Literally known as the “Land of Kings”, Rajasthan occupies a central place in India’s historical legacy and

Popularly known as the “Pink City” worldwide Jaipur is the

largest city of Rajasthan and also its capital. The city has

been named after its founder Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II.

The color pink is associated with this city because most of

the imperial forts and palaces have been constructed with

entrancing pink stones. This city is one of the foremost

ancient planned cities in Rajasthan and architectural venture has revealed that it had been constructed

according to the principles of Shilpa Shashtra or science of Indian Architecture. Most of the chronicled

famous wars had been fought in this city. Its architectural conception is very much contemporary

modern and showcases a synthesis of Rajput and Mughal influence. Jaipur has an array of things to be

offered to its visitors spanning from loud and colorful Rajasthani festivals, quirky handicrafts, bandhnee

saris to palatial monuments. The Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, City Palace, Central Museum, Dolls

Udaipur

Due to abundance of water bodies in Udaipur it is known as the “Venice of the East”. The famed Lake

Palace for example occupies an entire island in the Pichola Lake. Some of the palaces have been

transformed into luxury hotels to lyre the rich and the famous. And it is lovingly called the "Lake City".

Lake Pichola , Fateh Sagar Lake , Udai Sagar and Swaroop Sagar in this city are held to be some of the

splendid lakes in the state. Udaipur was a strategically important place in the history of India and

naturally recreates before its visitors the antiquarian chivalry and love stories of various Rajput princes

and princesses. Jag Mandir, Sahelion Ki Bari, Gulab Bagh, Fateh Sagar Lake, Moti Magri, Monsoon Palace

and Shiv Niwas Palace are well-known tourist spots. Udaipur because of its breathtaking and scenic

beauty is a popular marriage destination for many Bollywood and Hollywood stars and business tycoons.

Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer is located in the middle of the Great Desert of yellow sand-dunes and standing on the rim of yellowish sandstone surrounded by a fort contains the fort and several beautifully carved Jain temples are known as “The Golden City”. The sand and the yellow colored stones impart a

yellow haze to the entire district and therefore also called The Sun City of Rajasthan. Besides the imposing and regal Jaisalmer fort the region has a number of sprawling and magnificent palaces and smaller forts constructed by the well-to-do merchants. Although the state is under Indian Government’s jurisdiction some of the welfare works are carried out by the heirs of the Bhati clan of Rajputs. The Jaisalmer Fort, Jain Temples, Nathmal Ji Ki Haveli, Gadsisar Lake, Salim Singh Ki Haveli and Patwon Ji Ki Haveli are of primary interest.

Jodhpur

Jodhpur known as the “Blue City” is coined from the blue color that tinges the whitewashed houses around the Mehrangarh fort. The enamoring city fascinates its visitors with perfect amalgamation of historical and architectural mix during the Rajasthan travel. Every bit of Jodhpur displays its ravishing past and innate beauty. The forts, the marks on weapons on the walls, the cannons, museums-everything testifies its gilded past. The supreme places to be visited in this city are Mehrangarh Fort, Umaid Bhavan Palace, Rai ka Bag Palace, Jaswant Thada and Mandore Garden. Umaid Bhavan is as the residence of the the current king Gaj Singh’s family.

Mount Abu

It is the only hill resort of Rajasthan in its Sirohi

district. It is a one of the places often

prescribed by doctors to ailing patients for

recuperation because the very atmosphere of

Mount Abu is said to have healing properties. The calming effect of the placid and sparkling lakes,

flowing waterfalls and lush greenery contribute together to make it a very attractive place and often is

at the top of the itinerary of the Rajasthan travel planning. It was a resting place for many sages and

hermits and is famous for the Bhramakumaris, a religious cult. Mount Abu is a haven for spiritual retreat

who wants to go through a completely new and reinvigorating experience. Other places to be seen are

Gaumukh Temple, Sunset Point, Nakki Lake, Dilwara Marble Temples, and Mount Abu Wildlife

Sanctuary.
