KL is the capital of Malaysia. It has many tourists attractions and has one of the biggest buildings in the world. If you look through this book you might be able to go home with a few more interesting facts about our host city.

Now I would like to tell you about the place with 272 steps to reach the cave which is the Batu Caves. Once a year they have a festival called Thaipusam where they pierce themselves, walk on fire, and do other rituals. Also if you look up you can see millions of bats.

Now here are one of the tourist attractions KL. It is called Chinatown. In Chinatown there are two temples. People enjoy riding bikes and walking around buying items in shops, stalls, and going to eat in restaurants.

In KL we have developed from living in a jungle to a beautiful city! People used to live in wooden houses and now they have one of the biggest buildings in the world!!!!

Here in KL in our environment we have lots of trees, plants and and a few areas where you can hike in the rain forest. The rainforest is quite big and has many animals, but mostly it is a concrete jungle!

In KL we have many different kinds of food. For example, Nasi Lemak, a very fantastic dish and is very popular in KL. Here in KL we have many different foods because all of the ethnic groups living in KL.

If the Gombak and the Klang river weren’t made KL wouldn't have become a city. Raja Abdullah named the area Kuala Lumpur because the two rivers (the Klang and Gombak rivers) were muddy and KL means in Malay means ‘muddy confluence’.

In 1857, 87 Chinese citizens in search of tin. They sailed from China to KL. They landed at the meeting point where the Klang and Gombak rivers meet. Then they started to be cooks and tailors and soon they became a community.

In KL we have many international schools such as Alice Smith, MKIS, ISKL, and more. At the schools here the children’s education is fantastic and they become very smart.

Here in KL the jungles are beautiful. It is fantastic because you walk, hike, trek, and much more. Also you can hike in F.R.I.M and in a few national park there are jungle treks you can trek.

KLCC was a huge success! It used to be the biggest building in the the whole world! Also two companies had to make the towers. The two towers are 88 storeys tall!!!!

In Lake Gardens there are many hills and gardens. A few of the tourists enjoy going to Lake Gardens because of the Bird Park, Hibiscus Garden, National Monument, Orchid Garden, and the Parliament House!

Today we have had 54 Merdeka days. Merdeka means independence. Merdeka is a celebration because along time ago the British ruled Malaysia. Finally in 1957 they got their independence!

National Monument is in Lake Gardens and is one of the tourists attractions in KL. It was made by an American sculptor. It was made in 1966.

The Orang Asli are the indigenous people of Malaysia. They live traditionally in the rainforest. There are three groups of the Orang Asli: the Negrito, Senoi, and the Proto Malay.

Here in KL the king lives in a beautiful palace which sort of looks like a mosque. The palace is called Istana Negara.

The Q’uran is a holy book for all Muslims. In the Q’uran it tells, in Arabic, the stories of the Muslim prophets. Some of the Muslims keep the Q’uran under their pillow while they sleep at night. Also, you can hear the mosque at night or in the morning.They are reading from the Q’uran.

Ramadan happens during every month. It is a movable celebration and so a different month in the western calendar. In 2011 Ramadan was in August. During Ramadan for a month almost all the Muslims will fast. Fasting is when you wake up before dawn to eat breakfast and then you can’t eat or drink till after dusk.

Selangor is west of the Klang Valley where the tin mines were. In Selangor there are many tourist attractions like Batu Caves, Hutan Kanching, Shah Alam, and Malaysia Agriculture Park.

Here in KL we have many different traditions because of all the ethnic groups that are living in KL. For example eating with chopsticks or eating with your hands are traditional Chinese and Malay ways of eating.

Here in KL we have great unity. People from different races can be together in different ways.

When KL was first discovered they didn’t know what to do to help people from getting Beri-Beri. The people got Beri-Beri by eating white polished rice. The white polished rice gave them Beri-Beri because it had a lack of thamine or vitamin B1.

Here in KL the weather is about 35 C or 95 F. In KL it rains quite a bit, but it is also very sunny. Often there is a lot of lightning.

Experts in KL come from all around the world. They come to share their unique skills with the people in KL, Malaysia, and beyond.

Yap Ah Loy was the Chinese caption and governed Kuala Lumpur. He helped develop the city during the early days. During the years he became rich and powerful.

In Zoo Negara there are animals from Asia and Africa. There you can see the Tapir, Milky Stork, Sun bear, Tiger, False Gharial. You get to watch some amazing animal shows there. Also you can adopt animals.
