The accessible Kusadasi cruise port presents very few obstacles to disabled cruise passengers. Wheelchair users have step-free access to pass through the cruise terminal and begin their shore excursion (usually in a wheelchair accessible van).
The vast majority of disabled travelers who stop in Kusadasi (and the port of Izmir) head straight to the world-class accessible Ephesus ruins.

Many disabled tourists also visit the accessible House of the Virgin Mary while in port. Both the House of the Virgin Mary and the Ephesus ruins are about a 30 minute drive from the Kusadasi cruise port.Sage Travel Tip: If you need a wheelchair accessible van, be sure to book it in advance.

I gave the Kusadasi cruise port a 3 Star Sage Accessibility Rating because it has a step-free route from the cruise dock to the cruise port exit. It did not receive a higher rating because the tourist attractions are not within walking/rolling distance and there are no accessible taxis available. Disabled cruise passengers will need to book accessible transportation for their shore excursion.Kusadasi cruise port accessibility is not as good as other places such as the Venice cruise port, the Mykonos cruise port, and the Istanbul cruise port.

When you arrive at the Kusadasi cruise port, there is no shuttle to bring you to the cruise terminal. Wheelchairs with pushers are available as soon as you get off the ship. You may need to reserve these in advance (if you book one of our accessible cruise packages, we will take care of it for you). There are no port shuttle buses, so without these wheelchair pushers you will have to walk the 400 meters to the entrance.

There are 200 meters of flat, smooth concrete from the cruise ship exit to the cruise terminal entrance. The cruise terminal building itself is pretty small and you will quickly pass through it. After exiting, there will be numerous tour guides holding signs with the names of passengers who have arranged accessible private tours to Ephesus.

After you leave the cruise terminal, Kusadasi disabled access is provided by a covered walkway leading toward the exit of the Kusadasi port.

After the covered walkway, you will head through some shops to the street where your accessible van to Ephesus will meet you.

When returning to the ship, you’ll go through the shops then through the Departures gate (shown in the photo on the left). You will then walk/roll back to your ship entrance and continue your accessible cruise adventure!
