A lot people want more travel but think that there’s no way because of time and money.

There are several ways to earn a decent income and get your traveling in. It’s going to be much easier if you’re

single, but take it from me anyone can do it. I’ve been traveling for 8 years now, and making good money all

the while. Everyone has the same possibilities and can travel their entire life, it just comes down to prioritizing

what you want, and if it’s travel you do whatever it takes to make it happen just like anything else in life you

desire.

I haven’t tried every job on this list of travel occupations. But I have tried a few, and have friends who have tried

the rest. Some of these you do get paid, and some are more on a volunteer work type deal. But they are great

ways to experience what the world has to offer.

Top Nine Occupations that you can do to Make Money and Travel

1.Teach Over Seas –Typically this is done in an Asian country from what I’ve seen. And I won’t sugar coat it,

I’ve heard good stories and horror stories. But you have to take the good with the bad and there are always ups

and downs to every profession. The experience you’ll get is priceless. The best way to get a job teaching

overseas is to do a little research online. There are several sites that you can apply on like Teach Away and

I’m sure you can contact them with any questions.

2. Work as a Guide – This is an awesome job; there are the traditional guide jobs all over the world. Or you

can go for some more off the wall tour guide positions like freelancing as aguide here or being an adventure

guide for children for the World Challenge.

3. Be a Volunteer – Most people have heard of the Peace Corp, and if you haven’t you need to get out more.

Volunteer work is a great way to earn an income overseas all while helping make the world a better place and

learning a lot about yourself. One of the newer ways to travel for free is to set up fundraisers through larger

companies for a worthy cause like fighting cancer. Many companies will fund an expedition to somewhere like

Everest base camp, if you set up a foundation to accept donations for a cause when you complete the

challenge.

4. Work in Hospitality – Working in the service is a great way to travel; it’s what started me on my journey

around the world almost 9 years ago. I personally worked in food service as a chef. So you can get a job in a

kitchen, or as a room attendant, host/hostess, or waiter server. You can also land jobs as a driver or as a

receptionist for a travel company or hotel. These are typically seasonal jobs, and when the seasons over you

can travel somewhere else.

5.Become a Flight Attendant – Being a flight is one of the best ways to travel around the world while getting

paid. It doesn’t require years of training to get started, working for an airline as a flight attendant typically only

takes a short 3-4 week course. And there are several companies to choose from that you can research online.

6. Be a house sitter – This is another way to live for free in another city or country. Granted you have to get

there first, but sometimes you could get lucky and get your travel expenses paid for. Trusted House

Sitters has a great FAQ page you can read here. Never tried this one, but I have had friends who have house

sat several times in South East Alaska. The houses they took care of where always mansion style for the upper

class, and they had all food paid for as well. They would just find under the table jobs in the area and work on

the side.

7. Work online – A lot of people never look into this, but this is one of the most lucrative ways to travel and get

paid. It tends to give the most freedom as you don’t have to answer to anyone; there are several things you can

8. Crew a Boat – This is the first job that took me out into the world, I know before I said it was the hospitality

industry, but that’s because I was a chef on yachts and small cruise ships. I also worked on Commercial

Fishing boats in Alaska, catching everything from salmon, to cod, to king crab. Boats are great but they are a

lot of work and not for everyone. I don’t recommend commercial fishing for everybody; to be honest I don’t

recommend it for 99% of the people I’ve ever met in my life. It’s brutal and harsh and takes a certain type of

constitution.

9. Be a Travel Writer – This is another one of the paths on this list of travel jobs that gives more freedom. You

work from your laptop, and can either freelance or write for a magazine or company. It takes a lot to stand out

from the crowd, you have to really study writing and get involved in the writing community and network. It’s a

collaboration of forces if you’re looking to be a travel blogger, and if you’re working for a company a lot of times

you can paid for travel expenses, but you’ll have to go on their itinerary. The other option is to freelance and

offer articles to different sites and publications.

Now you see there really is no reason that you can’t travel if you’re single, and I’ve seen it work for

those with children too.

If that’s the case you’re going to have to get resourceful. I recommend getting a passport and picking one of

these areas of work I listed, then researching about the occupation you chose. These are by no means all of

the ways you can travel and get paid; they’re just the best I found. Google is your best friend for research and

opportunities; I’ve seen so many different ones spring up for people who are willing to search for ways to work

abroad, and then take the chance and go for the job. It all comes down to what you want out of life. I had to

escape the 9-5; I knew there was a great big beautiful world out there I had to see. Now it’s become my

playground, and I’ll never go back to the grind.

I used to work two jobs, sweating away swinging a hammer during the day, and sweating in a kitchen at night.

Then I gave it up to work on boats, it was great money and awesome experiences, but I got over spending 6

months at a time out at sea. After that I started working online and my whole life changed. There are a lot of

people making money online, and you can do it through writing, blogging, social media, and SEO just to name

a few. I went with blogging and social media. It’s been great, there’s nothing like working from your laptop

while traveling and getting paid to blog. I chose this system because it gives you a jump start, there’s no set up,
