No More Timeshare: How to Get Out of Your Timeshare Contract

Many timeshares want out of their contracts. They are tired of paying the maintenance fees, or personalcircumstances do not allow them to go on vacation, or merely because they don’t like the timesharemodel. While canceling the contract yourself, the first idea that comes to mind is there are several legalaspects of timeshare you need to understand.

First, you have to prove which law the timeshare contract breaches. While this seems easy on thesurface, it’s quite hard to prove, especially if several laws govern your contract. For instance, if you’refrom the U.S and you took your contact in Spain, then you have to invoke the Spanish Civil Code in anyattempt to free yourself from the timeshare contract. In the U.S, things get more complicated becauseeach state has its laws on timeshare. Any attempts to free yourself from the contract without legalassistance are mostly futile and the cause of many headaches.

The only way to free yourself from the torture, without the associated headaches, is if you’re ill andunable to vacation, or if you are above 75 years. Companies that claim to offer Timeshare Relief, that istransfer timeshare, don’t fare well either according to Timeshare Relief BBB reviews. The Bureau ofBetter Business notes that there are numerous complaints of customers not having their timesharetransferred. Some customers complain that there was no action from the company even after a year ofsigning up with the enterprise.

What’s worse is that consumers are often billed regularly even though the company does nothing toease their timeshare burden. When the customers try to contact the company for updates, they are

often stonewalled, which is another major complaint against the company with the Bureau of BetterBusiness website.

When the Business of Better Bureau contacted the company about the complaints, the company advisedthat the clients failed to turn in their timeshare documentation in the required period which occasionedthe delay and the extra maintenance fee. The company also noted that in some cases where the clientsdid turn up the ownership documents, the resorts failed to acknowledge the documentation, leaving thebusiness with no course of action. The company is currently working with the resorts to resolve theissue.

It seems that timeshare never worked out for anyone. The question now is, can people find a betteralternative to timeshare? Of course, there is. The no more Timeshare is a movement of formertimeshare resorts that want to offer a better way to vacation. Their freestyle vacation model is nothindered by laws like timeshare, meaning it’s straightforward to get out of the contract. In fact, if youdon’t like the vacationing model, you get your money back, as simple as that.
