The past perfect progressive Tense
Affirmative statement
To make an Affirmative past perfect progressive statement, simply follow this pattern:
Subject+had + been+verb in base form+ing
Example:She had been waiting for jack for 30 minutes when he arrived.
Negative statement
To make a negative past perfect progressive statement,
simply follow the following pattern:
Subject+had+ not+been+verb in base form+ing
•She had been waiting for jack for 30 minutes when he arrived.
Question
To make a question in the past perfect progressive, simply follow the following pattern:
Had+subject+been+verb in base form+ing
•Had she been waiting for jack for 30 minutes when he arrived.
Exercise:
Make sentences in past perfect progressive tense.
Affirmative Negative Question
She had been playing tennis for half an hour
She hadn’t been playing tennis for half an hour
He had been waiting for his girlfriend since 6 o'clock.
had he has been waiting for his girlfriend since 6 o'clock.
We had been living in Greece since last August.
Had we been living in Greece since last August.
They had been lying in the sun for hours.
They hadn’t been lying in the sun for hours.
