What To Bring?

The following documents should be carried with you and not packed into your checked baggage: • Passport

What kinds of medications should I bring?

• We suggest that you bring along the following extras for your own comfort and convenience:

• Anti-diarrheal medication • Other pain-relievers, and sunscreen (30+ protection factor).• Always pack enough prescription medications for the entirety

of the trip.• It is recommended that you pack an extra week’s supply in a

different spot, just to be on the safe side.

How much cash should I bring with me? What is the best way to carry it?

• Most of your needs are already been included. However, this does not include your personal spending money… for gifts as an example. On average we advise 50 dollars cash per day for personal items.

• Your major credit card will be accepted throughout all cities that you are visiting.

• It is wise to keep money and valuables out of easy reach. A money belt is advisable

• Keep jewelry down to a minimum!

Is it easy to change currencies in China?

• It’s easy to exchange currency. Normally, money exchanges can be done in international airports, large banks, and hotels. In cities like Beijing and Shanghai, exchanging money is practically everywhere.

• China is still very much a cash-based economy

• ATMs that accept foreign cards are also becoming increasingly available. Look for network symbols such as Interlink, Plus, Star, and Maestro.

What are the baggage limits while traveling by air within China?

• Domestic Travel in China allows 1 carry on bag and 1 checked bag per person

• Check-in luggage is limited to 44 lbs per person for economy-class.

• Restaurant tipping is not part of the local culture

How accessible is the internet?

• The Internet is accessible in all major hotels; (our hotels include free Wi-Fi in the lobby.)

• Additional charges to have the internet in your room• There are Internet cafés nearby if you have not brought along your laptop or tablet. *You will not have access FacebookOr certain email programs… Have aGmail email account to email home!

Are there any restrictions on photography?

• China is a very photogenic country. Most people are very comfortable being photographed. When in doubt, ask first.

• In certain areas, such as temples, monasteries, and museums, photography is prohibited.

Drinking water in China…

Once you are there

• Don’t accept rides from anyone other than official taxi drivers. • Private taxis tend to overcharge, use official cabs • Protect your belongings. Pickpockets are worldwide.• Always return your hotel room key to the front desk when you

checkout. The plastic cards are not disposable as they are in the USA

• Feel free to negotiate prices in markets. Prices in department stores are fixed.

• Great shopping bargains: jade, silk, suits, shirts, and pearls• If you want to explore at night, take a travel buddy

• Keep cash exchange receipts. It will make it much easier to re-exchange money as you return home.

• Settle your personal accounts early. Don’t wait until last minute.

• Double check your room. Don’t leave your belongings behind
