The Highest Highs.

The Lowest Lows.

And the Best of

Everything in Between.

Royal GoRGe BRidGe

Hanging above the wild Arkansas River, the Royal Gorge Bridge is one of the world’s highest suspension bridges, and a legendary feat of engineering renowned the world over. Built in 1929 for $350,000, the cost today would exceed $18 million. But for those who venture across it, whether walking or driving, the experience is priceless.

aeRial TRam

Gliding more than 1,100 feet above the canyon floor is one of the world’s longest single-span aerial trams. The ride offers exceptional 360-degree views of the Gorge, the Bridge, the Park and the majestic Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

incline Railway

Built in 1931, and featuring a 45-degree angle, the Incline Railway is one of the world’s steepest, and is still considered one of the most difficult structures ever built. Here, timeless granite walls loom all around as you descend over 1,500 feet to the canyon floor, a mere 50 feet at its widest. Looking up, the Bridge appears as a delicate ribbon.

Seasonal – May to September.

TRail Rides

You’ll think you’re on the Santa Fe Trail as you make your way through the pines and evergreens of Royal Gorge Country on the back of a mule led by Watt Mule Company wranglers. Mules are sure-footed animals suited for all types of terrain, and the best way to travel backcountry to the rim of the Royal Gorge. Try the half-hour View Point, the hour View Point and Terrain Trail Ride, or the advanced two-hour Rim of the Gorge Extreme Ride. This is an extra-pay feature. See photos and learn more about the trail rides at www.wattmules.com.

The Royal Rush Skycoaster is the most awesome adrenaline rush in the state. Imagine a free-fall tower sweeping you 50 mph to hang momentarily 1,300 feet above the Arkansas River, which looks like a tiny blue line below. Recently named the scariest Skycoaster in the world. This is an extra-pay feature.

Visit the Plaza Theatre for a historical look at the Gorge and surrounding area, including a video that combines education and entertainment for a look back at how the Royal Gorge used to be. Special entertainment from May to September includes a magic show.

And, of course, what’s a vacation without shopping? There are stores tucked away throughout the Park, so you can take home a reminder of your special time at our special place.
