The statue of liberty is an icon of freedom and the symbol of the United States. It is a welcoming signal to immigrants arriving from abroad.

The statue was designed by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and dedicated on October 28, 1886. It was a gift from France to the United States.

The statue is a female figure representing Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom.

She bears a torch and a book of law, tabula ansata which is inscribed the date of American Declaration of Independence. She also has a broken chain lies at her feet.

The statue of liberty has the height of 46 meters. It is located on the Liberty Island, the middle of New York harbor which is in Manhattan, New York city.
