Mahalaxmi Temple It is a most renowned temple in Mumbai, dedicated to the goddess Laxmi. It is in Mahalaxmi area and located on Bhulabhai Desai Road. This temple was constructed in 1831 and constructed by a Hindu merchant. Inside the temple there are several images of goddess like Mahasaraswati, Mahakali and Mahalaxmi. The images also have different types of ornaments on them like pearl necklace, nose ring and also flower in the hand of goddess Mahalaxmi. Various types of stall can be seen outside the compound of the temple. The stalls of flowers and offerings which a devotee buys for the goddess Mahalaxmi. Mahalaxmi Racecourse Near the Mahalaxmi area you can also visit Mahalaxmi Racecourse. This racecourse tracks are in oval shaped. The racecourse occupies the area of about 225 acres. Mahalaxmi Racecourse is made on Mahalaxmi flats and the land previously here was marshy. Today this Racecourse is taken on lease from MCGM that is Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai to RWITC that is Royal Western India Turf Club. The racing of the horse starts from somewhere in the mid of November and ends in the April’s last week. It is open rest of the days for common Mumbaikar in morning hours and in evening hours for exercising, walking or jogging. Haji Ali Mosque Haji Ali Mosque is situated on the southern part of Mumbai in Worli. This mosque is the well known landmark in southern Mumbai. The construction of this mosque gives us a good combination of Indo-Islamic structure. This mosque has the tomb of the Sayed Peer Haji Ali Shah Bukhari. Sayed Peer Haji Ali Shah Bukhari is a wealthy merchant and in his memory this tomb was built in 1431. This merchant had travelled different places around the world and then final settled in Mumbai in the mid period of 15th century. You can visit this mosque only in low tides as this is placed in such a way that during high tide the pathway leading to the mosque gets submerged in water and hence avoiding it to visit by any tourist. Sanjay Gandhi National Park This is the only sanctuary preserved in India which is near the vicinity of the city. This park is open for every citizen in early morning for morning walk. In evening time you can also see families and couples enjoying the natural beauty of the park. This is very much famous for natural caves in it and also for a hill top made naturally from a volcanic rock. Last but not the least, the over-crowded yet the life-struck streets of Mumbai is one of the most interesting things to see in Mumbai you must experience by going yourself down on roads.
