Women’s Health and Lifestyle Magazine

Holly Wright

My Brief

You have been commissioned by the Northern Echo to produce a new

magazine or newspaper product. Your product could be in any style or genre but it must be self financed through sales or advertising. You must also produce your

magazine for a specified audience segment within the 16 to 25 age group.

To ensure that I am able to meet the brief I have done the following: - ABC1- Ensured that the quality is high - “women’s health and lifestyle” for 16-25 year olds- a gap in the market and is commercially viable- self financed through sales and advertising.

How to meet the brief…

Things to consider…

SECONDARY AUDIENCE

The secondary audience for my magazine will include Northern Echo readers, parents and siblingsIn order to avoid offence and ensure the secondary audience are happy there will be…

- No taboo lexis- No inappropriate content- No nudity

The PCC is a body who deals with complaints from members of the public about the content of magazines and newspapers. There are 16 codes that must be followed by magazines and newspapers. The PCC look into complaints that have been made by individuals who believe that the

code has been breached.

To ensure I do not break any of the codes I have created 5 golden rules I must follow…

Things to consider…CONSTRAINTS – THE PRESS COMPLAINTS COMISSION

It is very important to ensure that informed consent is given before questioning, photographing or publishing information about an individual.

To ensure trespassing doesn’t occur I will gain consent from the land owner to be allowed to access the area and to take photographs on it.

I will be considerate and caring when discussing sensitive topics such as illness, shock and grief.

I must ensure all information is confidential therefore not giving out information about an individual e.g. name, age and race. Unless permission is given.

I must ensure that all information about a topic, individual or organisation that is published is accurate.

Not only does Impulse concentrate on the social aspects of women’s lifestyle including fashion,

beauty and makeup, it dives deep into the wellbeing of the target audience focusing on both the

mental and physical health.

My USP

I briefed my idea which involved discussing the genre, design, target audience and article ideas and gained this

feedback…
