8 staff with an accumulated 210 years of highway safety program experience

9 million dollars of available federal funding during federal year FY2012

Federal Funding: 1) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA); 2) US Dept. of Justice (USDOJ-OJJDP); and 3) Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) HSIP funding

Nebraska Office of Highway Safety(NOHS) Facts

Mission – To reduce the state’s traffic crashes, fatalities, and injuries on the roads through leadership, innovation, facilitation and program support in partnership with other public and private organizations.

Goals (examples 2 of 27) Reduce fatalities by 10% in 2012 Reduce serious injuries to 1,700 in 2012

The staff of 8 annually works with: over 400 state and local government agencies; another 250 non-profit and community organizations; and many private sector businesses as partners to impact Nebraska crashes, injuries, and fatalities.

It is worth noting that the Nebraska office is

the most experienced state highway safety office staff in the nation.
