The Beginning of Trucks 1908 Henry Ford builds his third Vehicle, a pickup
truck!
1917 Ford Introduces the Model T one ton truck chassis, the first chassis purpose built as a truck.
1925 Ford Produces the first production pickup trucks in the world
1932 Ford is the first company to offer a v8 engine in a truck.
1948 marks the birth of the F-Series

The Early F Series 1953 ford changes the name of the trucks from F1-
F8 to F100-F800
1954 Ford offers a high powered over head valve v8 engine.
1959 Ford produces their first light duty factory 4x4 trucks
1964 Ford offered Air Conditioning in their trucks
1965 Ford offers the all new Crew Cab trucks
Bump Side Fords 67-72 Got their nickname from the bump down the side
These trucks had new motor displacements, a 302, 360, and 390 cubic inch v8s
These motors bragged more power and better fuel economy.
As well as a new front suspension “that rides like a car, works like a truck”
Ford also added all new levels of trim package, ranger and lariat.

• Including the notorious 460 Cubic inch v8 Big Blocks
• 460 v8 At Work
• The best 4x4 capabilities of any ford yet
• They had new front disc brakes
• These trucks are so rugged, even today they exist as work vehicles everywhere

Dent Sides Continued 1976 was the last year of the Fe 360 and 390 v8s
Then began the first emissions driven engines, the 351 and 400 Modified v8s
Ford also in 1975 released the ford F150
The F150 continues to be the best selling truck in America for the past 32 Years, the streak starting in 1982.
The Beginning of the Old Body Style
In 1980 Ford released an all new F Series
The changes include a new engine family, the 302 and 351w
The f150s and f250s also sported a new independent front axle for a better ride
The frames, suspension and body are for the first time since the 60s ALL NEW!
Diesel? In a Pickup?
In 1982 Ford and Chevy both introduced the first
pickup trucks with diesel engines
Ford’s was a 6.9 liter non turbo diesel, which “featured
a modest 170 HP and 315 lb-ft of torque”
This Diesel got an astounding 15 mpg, yet still had
class leading diesel horse power and torque

The Old Body Style (OBS) This was the longest running series of trucks, 1980-
1997
In 1994 Ford released the all new 7.3L Power Stroke Diesel
“7.3L features included a waste-gated turbocharger, HUEI fuel injectors and an air-to-air intercooler.”
“Today, over 2 million 7.3L Ford Trucks are still in operation, more than Chevrolet, GMC, and Dodge diesels, combined.”

In 1997 for the First time, the F150 was a completely
different truck from its 250 and 350 brothers
1998 Ford released the NBS F250 and F350s
They also included the new Triton V10 and V8 Engines
These trucks were 100% new other than the still
running 7.3L diesel
New F150
The New Diesel In 2003 Ford added a new engine option, the 6.0L
Turbo Diesel.
It was produced from 2003 to 2007, and the first emissions driven diesel.
The engine had a large reduction in size, but large increase in power
325 Horse Power and a whopping 570 ft. lbs. of torque

The 6.4 Diesel In 2007 Ford made a new run at the diesel market,
after having mechanical problems with the 6.0L
The new 6.4L diesel was entirely new
It was quiet, put out low emissions, and had new
computer technology never before seen in a truck.
The only problem, the fuel mileage!
New Generation Gas Engines had fallen behind, and by 2010 Ford was
ready for a change.
They introduced an all new 6.2L gas v8
This motor produces an impressive 411hp with 434 ft.
lbs. of torque.
At the same time this motor gets an astounding 14mpg

A Diesel for the Modern World In 2011, Ford had enough of their competition, and
brought something new to the diesel world.
The 6.7L Power stroke, the meanest and greenest diesel yet.
With ground breaking technology this engine is B20 fuel compatable
It also produces an insane 440 horse power and 860 ftlbs of tourqe
This is the future of efficiency in diesel trucks.
