From humble beginning to an engineering conglomerate

• Two brothers from the Kirloskar family form a partnership firmengaged in the assembly and sale of bicycles

• The firm manufactures India‟s first iron plough in 1904, followed by anumber of firsts in agri-machinery such as fodder cutter, sugarcanecrusher etc.

• KBL converts division into joint venture with Copeland, USA

for hermetic compressors in 1993

• KBL enters into technical agreement with Ebara Corporation

for small hydroelectric turbines (up to 10 MW) in 1998

• The Group forms Toyota Kirloskar Motors Limited, an

automotive joint venture with Toyota Motor Company of Japan

in 1997.

• KBL acquires SPP Pumps, UK in 2003, Aban Construction in

2006; Gondwana Engineers and The Kolhapur Steel in 2007.

• Devadula irrigation project, the first project in India with high head, high flow,

metallic volute pumps with synchronous motors; total power rating of 52 MW, the

highest so far in India will be commissioned soon.

• Executing the Bhima Lift irrigation scheme having single largest pump power
