Final Lab Review

Epithelia:

Skin: stratified squamous keratinized epithelium

Trachea and bronchus (respiratory epithelium): pseudostratified ciliated columnar epithelium (WITH GOBLET CELLS)

Regular bronchiole: Ciliated simple columnar epithelium

Respiratory bronchiole: simple cuboidal epithelium

Oral cavity (tongue, esophagus): Non-keratinized stratified squamous epithelium

Gingiva: para-keratinized stratified squamous epithelium

Digestive tract (stomach, small intestine, large intestine): simple columnar epithelium

Urinary bladder, ureter, renal pelvis: Transitional epithelium

Endothelium (lining of blood vessels): simple squamous epithelium

Ducts: cuboidal (“simple” in collecting duct, “stratified” in sweat duct) stratified columnar (ducts of salivary glands)

Identify this tissue

Name the structure

1. Classify the epithelium circled. 2. name the structure indicated by the blue arrow.

1. Name the tissue indicated by the black arrow. 2. Name the tissue indicated by the red arrow. 3.

Name the encircled tissue.

What organ? Name the structure.

Additional helpful Images:

CT types to identify:

• Dermis: 1) papillary layer (loose) 2) reticular layer (dense irregular) • Skeletal Muscle: epimesium, perimesium, endomesium• Salivary glands, pancreas, liver : CT around entire gland and “interlobular CT” around

lobules• Peripheral nerve: epineurium, perineurium, endoneurium

• THE ABOVE ARE ALL DENSE IRREGULAR CT• LAMINA PROPRIA IS LOOSE• Adventitia is dense irregular CT• Digestive tract after diaphragm = Serosa is membrane of CT covered by mesothelial

(squamous cells) covering the bodily cavities of stomach, small intestine, etc.
