General Description* Energy analyzers measure various parameters of an electrical network , including especially:* currents and voltages of phases* line-to-line voltages* Phase powers (active, reactive and apparent)* Voltage harmonics* Current harmonics* Energy valuesetc.. (various other features may exist in different devices)

Where is it used ?* Any place where tri-phase measurements arerequired. Also, any situation in which customer requires remote access to measurement values. One very interesting example:* High Voltage Transformer stations (Turkish National Electricity Distribution Authority – before that Taiwan)

Professional photos will be available with the catalog. Just a sketch:

Advantages over market** Klea does have an SMPS (Switch Mode Power Supply)

ACDC operationWide “power input range”Because of IEC 61010-1 300 VACDC is declared as maximum.

Can even work L-L! CAUTION!* Alarm relays (V, I, P, Q, S, IN etc. Of any phase can be assigned) * Real time clock exact timing of events* Alarm log* 1-300 V / 0.01-6A measurement* Accuracy (0.3%, 0.3% and 0.5%)

Comparison Table:

Advantages over market* Minimum, maximum and average values* Demand values for the last 4 months* Graphical LCD (easy to use menus)* Waveforms (Graphical LCD)* Phase diagram with values* Visual keyboard for entering values* Language selection* Options

- Total of 7 digital IOs... (2 on board + 5 optional)- 2 analog output option- 4 analog output option

Advantages over market* Current and voltage harmonics upto 51st harmonic* Maximum, mininum, avregae and energy values for hourly, daily and monthly for each phase (more in Analysis menu)* T1, T1_1, T1_2, T1_3 and T2 tariff meters (indexes)* History

- Every log contains 68 parameters 32 bit length- 80 days of hourly history (1920 hour)- 240 days of daily history - 36 months of monthly history- 3 different parts for history erasable individually

Advantages over market• An SMPS (switch mode power supply) gives the opportunity to work with DC voltages. • For example, 110 VDC should be used in HV transformer stations here in Turkey. Therefore in their contracts, they indicated this feature as a must.

• Likewise, in a contract, there can be a compulsory conditions as: • Energy analyzer should demonstrate demands at least for 4 months.• Energy analyzer should demonstrate current and voltage harmonics up to

51st harmonic

Advantages over market• 4 – Quadrant Measurements

Advantages over market

Advantages over market• Quadrant 1 and Quadrant 3 is consumed area.•Quadrant 2 and Quadrant 4 is generated / produced / sink area.

Hints for advantages of Klea

Hints•Number of digital inputs or outputs can be emphasized in project contracts (technical specifications of a project), like: energy analyzers should have at least 5 DIOs (KLEA with DIO option has a total of 7 DIOs)

•Number of analog outputs can be emphasized in project contracts (technical specifications of a project) like: energy analyzers should have at least 4 analog outputs

Hints•An SMPS (switch mode power supply) gives the opportunity to work with DC voltages. • For example, 110 VDC should be used in HV transformer stations here in Turkey. Therefore in their contracts, they indicated this feature as a must.

HintsBesides the technical hints listed in previous two slides;

• if contract of a project had constraints similar to the following, many competitor energy analyzers will eliminate:• Energy analyzer should draw currents and/or voltages on its screen• Energy analyzer should draw phase diagram on its screen• Energy values should also be demonstrated as hourly, daily and monthly

fashion(both on the screen and via RS485 interface).

General Explanations

Demand? Demand period?• Demand is the maximum of the averages (calculated in demand periods) of a parameter.

• Assume that the demand period is 15 minutes. The demand of active power of previous month is the maximum average (calculated in every 15 minutes) calculated during last month.

Demand ?Why is it necessary? - To make agreements with national or private electrical energy providers in advance (6-months or annual aggreements, for instance). Klea has four months of demand history for each phaseand their total (with time stamps) for:

CurrentActive powerReactive powerApparent power

Why T1 and T2 tariff meters?

T1 = T1_1 + T1_2 + T1_3• Like in standard tariff meters, a day (24 hours) is divided in 3 periods. For industry most of the time:

• First period is the most expensive• Second period is cheaper• Third period is the cheapest

Why T1_1, T1_2, T1_3 ?

What is alarm and alarm log?• Operator can adjust KLEA to give alarm for

1. V(L-N)2. V(L-L)3. Current4. P5. Q6. S7. cosФ8. PF9. IN10. F11. Harmonics V12. Harmonics I13. Temperature

For the above parameters, according to an adjusted high limit and/or a low limit, Klea can announce an alarm: set alarm flags, energize the selected relays (if adjusted so) and keeps an “alarm event” log (max. count is 50).

What is Digital Input for Klea?In fact it is an open-short detection. Inputs for dry contacts.Dry contact basically means a relay

2 pieces inputs on every Klea 5 pieces of inputs on optional DIO board that means a total of 7 inputs on

KLEA with DIO option.

What is Digital Output of Klea?• Klea gives a digital output by sinking a current from a voltage level 30Vmax. Klea can sink a maximum of 50 mA current. • Digital outputs are basically used to

- give an input signal to counters- energize relays- activate different instruments- activate indicators• 2 pieces of outputs on every Klea• 5 pieces of outputs on optional DIO board that means a

total of 7 outputs on KLEA with DIO option.

What is Analog Output?• Most commonly used industiral standard analog output ranges are:

4-20 mA0-20 mA0-5 V0-10 V• Also, in some cases negative values for voltages are also required. So, Klea has

also:-5 to +5V -10 to +10• Basically, analog outputs of Klea will give analog output according to the specified

min. and max. values of a parameter (like voltage, current, power, energy).

What is Analog Output?• Analog outputs can be inputs to indicators (especially analog indicators)• Can be connected to analog IO modules of PLCs or RTUs.

What is Analog Output?

• AC Power Transducers is used for each phases in Switchboards panels and Control panels.
