A. The Middle East: North Africa is often combined with this region because of cultural, climate, and geographic similarities.

Divisions:

B. Sub-regions: divide North Africa (this include: Maghrib, Mashriq).

Climate:

C. Arid: there is virtually no water in North Africa. It is basically all desert. D. Atlas Mountains: Block almost all rain from North Africa.

Desert:

E. Sahara: Covers nearly 8.2 million square miles. Temperatures range from 130 to Below Freezing.

Coastal Areas:

F. Mediterranean Sea: Lush vegetation. Much like Greece, Italy, France.

Nile Delta:

G. Nile Delta: Longest River in world. Adds warm humidity.
