2. INTRODUCTION
This survey was conducted to understand online bill payment
behavior among online users in Chandigarh.
This report on Online Bill Paymentseeks to find out the level of
awareness of online bill payment services , the users aversion and
preference with regard to online bill payment ,their propensity to
start paying bills online and factor that would increase the usage
of the service.
3. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
The study was conducted in March 2009.The survey collected
information about user profile , Internet usage , preferences
associated with online bill payment, their propensity to start
paying bills online and factors that would increase the usage of
service.
The target audience comprised Internet users in Chandigarh (sector
17, 35, 9 and 7)with a sample size of 60 respondents out which we
got 33 true respondents . The coverage cut across age , gender
,education and occupation biases.
4. In this survey we used Non- Randam sampling method in which we
used convenience and judgment sampling method .
Online bill payers: A Demographic Profile
Age: 78.4%of online bill payers were in the 20-30 age group ,
followed by the 40-50 segment with 11.8%.and 9.8%were in 30-40age
group. Most of online bill payer were young professionals.
Gender:58.8%of online payer were male and 41.2%are female.
5. FINDINGS
Here some interesting findings from research report:-
6. 43.1%paid 1-2 bills; 19.6%paid 3-4 bills ; and 37.3%paid more than 5 bills a month. 7. 37.3%used debit card for making their payments;70.6% used credit cards and 11.8% used direct debit from their bank account. 8. 25% paid telephone ;2%paid insurencebills;23.5%paid credit card bills; 15.5%pain internet access bills, 7.8%pail electricity bills,and 25.5% paid for other (traveling tickets, movie tickets etc.). 9. 37.3%paid their bills throughbank sites;43.1% paid on the site of biller and 3.9%paid through 3rd parties and 15.7%paidthrough other means.
