computing.

• A mobile device is a small, hand-held computing device,

typically having a display screen with touch input and/or a

miniature keyboard and less than 2 pounds.

• One of the most relevant tools (currently) for performance support.

Weaknesses

• Concerns still revolve around basic device security and data security.

• Lack of tools to create engaging mobile learning content.

Opportunities

• One of the best ways to offer quick, real-time on-demand performance support.

• Front end or middle layer for the LMS.

Threats

• Early stage technology curve.

• Multiple platforms and varied technical frameworks.

OVERVIEW OF MOBILE BANKING

Mobile banking is a term used for performing balance checks, accounttransactions, payments, credit applications, pay bills, authorize fundtransfers, and other banking transactions through a mobile device such as amobile phone or Personal Digital Assistant (PDA)

Also known as M-Banking, SMS Banking.

The first mobile banking was operated by the National Bank of Scotlandand came into service on 5 November 1946

Mobile banking was first introduced in Bangladesh on May 15 by DutchBangla Bank Ltd (DBBL).

SWOT ANALYSIS OF MOBILE BANKING

• Strengths:

1) Mobile as a technology provides all the support required to leverage Banking transactions.

2) Ease of availability- any time, any where.

3) Rapid growth of Mobile and wireless market.

• Weakness:

1) Lack of awareness about the new channel among the mobile users.

2) Security concerns about the new channel.

3) Mobile Handset Operability.

4) Application distribution

MOBILE BANKING IN BANGLADESH

• Bangladesh Bank has already allowed 10 banks to initiate mobile banking.

• “Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited” has around 20,000 customers under the new system.

• The bank started the service initially in Dhaka city and its 6 surrounding districts with 150 to 200 field offices, and 4585 agent all over Bangladesh.

• “BRAC Bank” introduced the service on July 21, with the brand name ‘bKash’

UPCOMING MOBILE BANKING IN BANGLADESH

• “Mercantile Bank” and “Trust Bank” are going tointroduce m-banking throughout the country with the helpof the government union information centers.

• “SSL Wireless and Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited” haveentered an agreement to provide Mobile Banking Servicesin Bangladesh
