The Methodist Girls High School has in the 134 years of its existencesought to reduce the gender disparity in education, and promote theaccess of young girls of Sierra Leone to secondary education.
The school's vision is to pursue high quality education and contributeto high standards, by training well-motivated pupils who shouldachieve their full potential in all aspects of life.
Even though the MGHS has Christian roots, the school welcomespupils from all religious denominations and backgrounds.
The Methodist Girls' High School has contributed to the lives ofthousands of women, who have during their time there gainedacademic excellence and afterwards pursued distinction and now areprominent in religious, legal, social, medical financial, educational, secretarial, political and administrative fields in Africa, Europe andAmerica .
Many of these women have come together and formed alumnaeassociations in different parts of the world. The most prominentbranches are the Old Girls' Associations in the United Kingdom andthose in the United States of America.
However, some alumnae do not have the opportunity of living in areaswhere alumnae associations are present. MGHS Old Girls' Association- Texas is dedicated to connecting all alumnae of the MGHS. The Service
Praise to the Lord, the AlmightyThe King of creationO my soul, praise HimFor He is thy health and salvationAll ye who hear, now to His temple draw nearPraise Him in glad adoration
Praise to the LordWho o'er all things so wonderfully reignethShelters thee under His wingsYea, so gladly sustainethHast thou not seen how thy desires e'er have beenGranted in what He ordaineth
Praise to the LordWho doth prosper thy work and defend theeSurely His goodness and mercy here daily attend theePonder anew what the Almighty can doIf with His love He befriend thee
Praise to the Lord, O let all that is in me adore HimAll that hath life and breathCome now with praises before HimLet the 'amen' sound from His people againGladly for aye we adore Him
Sing alleluia forth in duteous praise,ye citizens of heaven, O sweetly raisean endless alleluia.
Ye powers who stand before the eternal Light,in hymning choirs re-echo to the heightan endless alleluia.
This is sweet rest for weary ones brought back, this is glad food and drink which ne'er shall lack:an endless alleluia.
While thee, by whom were all things made, we praiseforever, and tell out in sweetest laysan endless alleluia.
Almighty Christ, to thee our voices singglory for evermore; to thee we bringan endless alleluia.
Yield not to temptation, for yielding is sin;each victory will help you some other to win;fight manfully onward, dark passions subdue, look ever to Jesus, he'll carry you through.
Shun evil companions, bad language disdain,God's Name hold in reverence, nor take it in vain;be thoughtful and earnest, kindhearted and true, look ever to Jesus, he'll carry you through.
To him that o'ercometh, God giveth a crown;Through faith we shall conquer, though often cast down;
He Who is our Savior our strength will renew;Look ever to Jesus, He'll carry you through.
O for a thousand tongues to singmy dear Redeemer's praise, the glories of my God and King, the triumphs of his grace!
My gracious Master and my God,assist me to proclaimand spread through all the earth abroadthe honors of thy Name.
Jesus! the Name that charms our fearsand bids our sorrows cease;'tis music in the sinner's ears,'tis life and health and peace.
He speaks, and listening to his voice, new life the dead receive;the mournful broken hearts rejoice, the humble poor believe.
Hear him, ye deaf; his praise, ye dumb, your loosened tongues employ;ye blind, behold, your Savior come;and leap, ye lame, for joy!
Glory to God and praise and lovebe now and ever givenby saints below and saints abovethe Church in earth and heaven.
We give thee but thine own, whate'er the gift may be;all that we have is thine alone,a trust, O Lord, from thee.
May we thy bounties thusas stewards true receive, and gladly, as thou blessed us,to thee our first fruits give.
O hearts are bruised and dead, and homes are bare and cold, and lambs for whom the Shepherd bledare straying from the fold.
To comfort and to bless,to find a balm for woe,to tend the lone and fatherlessis angels' work below.
The captive to releaseto God the lost to bring,to teach the way of life and peaceit is a Christ-like thing.
And we believe thy Word, though dim our faith may be;whate'er for thine we do, O Lord,we do it unto thee.
Mine, Mine Methodist Girls’ SchoolThe High School for me;Shine, shine, always deserving our loyalty.
Go, go forward forever,Grow, grow faltering neverMore glorious be.
Mine, Mine Methodist Girls’ School,The High School for me.
Forth in thy Name, O Lord, I go,my daily labor to pursue;thee, only thee, resolved to knowin all I think or speak or do.
The task thy wisdom hath assigned,O let me cheerfully fulfill;in all my works thy presence find, and prove thy good and perfect will.
Thee may I set at my right hand, whose eyes mine in most substance see,and labor on at thy command, and offer all my works to thee.
Give me to bear thy easy yoke, and every moment watch and pray, and still to things eternal look, and hasten to thy glorious day.
For thee delightfully employwhate'er thy bounteous grace hath given;and run my course with even joy,and closely walk with thee to heaven.
