Page Layout Task 2

Step 1: I created a new document in Adobe InDesign, I then set the number of columns from 1 to 3.

This gives me this page layout as an end result

Step 2: I created an empty box for my chosen image to go in to using the Rectangle Frame Tool, the problem with InDesign is the image won’t automatically change to fit in to the square so I’ll have to use Photoshop to change the size of my image so it fits the box using the measurements.

Step 3: after opening my chosen photograph in to Photoshop, I clicked on image and then image size to change the images settings so it will fit the empty box on my grid/page layout.

This then brings up this box for image size, which I changed to match the measurements from the InDesign document, this may automatically change other aspects – such as the measurement for width: 121.656mm changed to 119.89mm as soon as I changed the height to 87.8mm – it still fits the empty box.

I then saved the Photoshop image as a JPEG.

Step 4: I needed to add my image in to the empty box on my document – I do this by going to: File > Place… > my chosen and edited image.This is the end result – it fits the box perfectly.

Step 5: Using the Type Tool, I created a text box in alignment with the individual grid lines, I made a small box for the title, and larger boxes that extend down to

the bottom of the page, yet stay within the grids guidelines.

Here you can see I’ve created the text box for the last column on the grid, you can tell because there are light green arrows that stretch from the top of the text boxes down to the bottom.
