Background

Over the past years, Statistics Norway has carriedout a stepwise development from a typical stove

piped statistical production system, towards a coherent statistical system, based upon a top-down

approach supporting an overall business model and a coherent information architecture.

An overall systems architecture, based on cooperative IT systems supporting the information architecture and the business processes will be implemented

The overall objective is to create a flexible, user friendly and controllable statistical production system.

Implementation

• Depending on top level support and power– Roles, responsibilities and management vs. Organisational

structure

• Number of ongoing projects

• But no averall implementation plan yet in place

Harmonisation between NSIs?

• Is it unbridgeable differences in the business model of the NSIs ?

• Is it possible to harmonise the information architecture of the NSIs?

• Thus; is it possible to harmonise the IT architecture of the NSIs, and subsequently to be able to exchange components and to take further stock on our common knowledge?
