Orientale Concentus was conceptualised in 2008 with the purpose of promoting choral music development and cultural exchange in Asia.
Orientale Concentus celebrates a decade of cultural diversity through choral music, our festival programme incorporates community programme that raise social awareness and promote civic mindedness among our participants.

The Competition is the main highlight of our festival with the largest prize money awarded. It is through the competition that participants learn to work together to achieve a common goal.
COMPETITION SCHOOL/ CHOIR EXCHANGE
Participating Choirs will be given the opportunity
to interact with other choir from other
nations. It is through such sessions that they
interact, relate and forge lasting friendships.
The mass master class aims to provide participants with an all-rounded learning experience.
MASS MASTER CLASS INDIVIDUAL MASTER CLASS During the individual
master class, choir members together with
the choir conductor will be able to work
specifically on the choir’s strengths and
weaknesses identified by the adjudicators during
the Competition.
The concert aims at raising social awareness, developing character and civic mindedness in the youth participants. Through the concert, participants have an opportunity to work and perform together in the concert for greater exposure and contribute towards meaningful social causes.

n The jury consists of a panel of five international choral experts. The decisions of the jury are final and cannot be contested.
Each choir will be evaluated on a 100-point system based on the following criteria:

(b) Musicality (40%) Fidelity to partitur (Adherence to Original Score), Phrasing, Interpretation and Style;
(c) Overall impression (20%) Programming, Expression and Overall Artistic Impression.

Each adjudicator will give the scores independently. The final result is based on the average of the scores given by each adjudicator.

CATEGORY WINNERSThe choir that is awarded the Gold diploma with the highest score in a category will be the category winner. It will receive a trophy and a certificate. Furthermore, a cash prize will be awarded when there are at least 3 competing choirs in the same category.
GRAND PRIX WINNERThe jury will nominate the category winners or top 5 scorers to the Grand Prix competition. The winner of the Grand Prix Competition will receive the special Grand Prix Trophy and cash prize of S$20,000.00
The Grand Prix competition programme must contain 2 a cappella works, which are not sung by the choir in any category competition.
The maximum duration of these 2 pieces is 8 minutes. The Grand Prix competition will take place during the final evening of the festival on 4 July, 2018.
SPECIAL JURY AWARDSThe jury may award additional special prizes for outstanding artistic achievements e.g. Conductor’s Prize, Best Interpretation Prize and etc.
SPECIAL PRIZEA special prize will be awarded for the best performance of a Singapore composition or arrangement.
DELEGATIONSExceptionally outstanding choirs may be delegated for the next competition.
