Dana Zuber

Wells Fargo Wealth Management Group

July 2009

22 DRAFT

So, how am I going to spend the next hour?

This session is for YOU if you are…

— A manager who recognizes the value of Tableau but have not yet realized its full potential within your team

— A novice Tableau user looking for ideas and inspiration

— A analyst who would like to make more of an impact on your organization

Today’s agenda:

— A year in the life of a Tableau junkie

— From cubicle monkey to analytics guru in three easy steps:

1. Using Tableau to group problem solve

2. Make your analysis sing with Tableau data visuals

3. Using Tableau dashboards to get your analysis off PowerPoint and into action

— A couple other words of wisdom

— Set your career into over-drive today (wrap up and questions)

Should I stay at this session or go to that other one I circled?

When 1+1 = 3

The problem with “business as usual”:

— Two heads are (usually) better than one

— Interactive, collaborative and informal analysis v. static, one-sided and formal presentation

— Work efficiency and quality

What you will need:

— A team of 2-5 problem-solvers

— An overhead projector (and popcorn) for in-person meetings or desktop software for remote meetings

Tips for success:

— Understand your scope and goal (what specific questions are you trying to answer?)

— In preparation, QA your data and do a preliminary analysis (~5 solid worksheets of pre-work)

— Host a 60-90 meeting using Tableau as your dynamic analysis tool (v. PowerPoint as your static presentation medium)

— Create an agenda and stick to it!

How to use Tableau to encourage group think

OR… Instead of having another static and boring PowerPoint meeting, try a dynamic and interactive meeting with Tableau instead
