This sacred ground can truly be called the Temple of Maitreya. • In 2008, the world’s tallest seated bronze statue of the Maitreya Buddha was completed on Xuedou Mountain, northwest of Xikou town, Fenghua City.

Xuedou Temple• Xuedou Temple, named one of the top 10 Buddhist temples under heavven in the Ming Dynasty, is located in the valley of Xuedou Mountain in the northwest of Xikou Town. The temple
itself was built in the Jin Dynasty (265 – 420) and prospered in the Tang Dynasty (618 – 907).
• In its long history, Xuedou Temple has enjoyed high reputation in the Buddhist world home and abroad. Many precious imperial items were granted to the temple by Emperor Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty. Story has it that in 1037, Emperor Ren Zong of the Song once had a dream in which he was touring Xuedou Temple and thanks to his dream, the temple was named "the Temple in the Dream". Since then the mountain has known as one of the five most famous mountains and the temple one of The Ten most famous temples of China.
