What is VRC?

• To introduce kids to STEM and build a quality Robotics foundation in them. We want our team members to learn the design process, problem solving, and teamwork skills.

• Weekly Tuesdays (Manassas) beginning September 3rd

• Thursdays (Alexandria, Loudoun) beginning September 5th

• 6:00PM-8:30PM• 3 Saturdays: October 26th (MA), November 16th (LO), December 14th (Arlington)

• Additional in Spring Semester (January 18th, February 8th, possibly March 6-7)

Fall Semester Schedule-VEX IQ

• Registration Due: September 13th

• Week 1: Intros, Logistics, Engineering Notebook, Game Study/Strategy• Week 2-4: Building• Week 5-6: Driver Programming/Driving Practice• Week 7-8: Auto Programming/Auto Practice

• Week 8: 1st Saturday Meeting (VIQC/VRC-October 26th)

• Week 9-11: Modifications, Driver/Programming Practice• Week 11: 2nd Saturday Meeting (VIQC/VRC-November 16th)

• Week 12-14: Modifications, Driver/Programming Practice• Week 12: Thanksgiving Week-No Meetings• Week 14: 3rd Saturday Meeting (VEX IQ ONLY-December 14th)

• Week 15: Recap Saturday Meeting, Plan For Modifications (if any)

Setup Semester/Lesson Plans

• $398-Fall Semester Tuition • $200 Due at August Registration• Can select payment plan at registration

• Can pay all upfront if desired• Full Refund (minus $20 cancellation fee)

Fall Semester Schedule (cont.)

• January-March 19th, 2020• Tuition $398• Registrations will take place in November-December

• Gives fall semester students a chance to leave if this isn’t for them• Serious competition focus

• Competition Season• Additional Saturdays (January 11th-VRC, January 18th, February 15th

VIQC)• Try and qualify for the State Championship (March 6-7, Doswell, VA).

Spring Semester

• If interested, register at http://vexcommunityteam.novastem.us/register• Assumption of Risk and Program Rules/Behavioral Expectation Forms

• Scan/Upload or Print/Return on 1st Night-Must have both forms to be on campus

Next Steps

Once we receive registrations, we will create teams based on ages, location, meeting schedules, and coach availability. Please be aware that if we do not receive enough interest from a particular region, we may ask those registered in the low interest areas to consider participating at another location or we may have to cancel that location.

This team-based environment is not suitable for all children. It is challenging and requires compromise, collaboration and teamwork.
