Trendy North End Mercer Island! A brilliant western focus on the neons of Seattle city lights, the snowy peaks of the Olympic Mountains and white caps of Lake Washington. A custom home with a flexible floor plan. We can say we have either 3 or 5 bedrooms since there are 2 offices that could double. The pool level has a recreation room, theatre (recliners, surround sound), in-ground pool, exercise zone. I love the flex room with its pretty concrete floors. Use it as you wish. Destruct proof!

Spirited views for dinner from the table and aperitifs from the window bench. Great sized living area called the ‘congregation room’. Let’s congregate and chat, look out the window at the splash and swim meets in the sunlit pool. Views views views. Spa tub for 8 and a handy beach bath. Fully screened Chicago porch. Full range in and out speakers. Motion detectors, exterior cameras, voice system.

Walk, run, cycle scores: The Lid with its parks, tennis, volley ball, trails, places for picnics, Mercer Island meets for cars and other collectibles. Just a short distance to family swimming. Up the hill and down a few blocks to fabulous fish and chips and oysters and chowder. Loge seats for Seafair...the planes and thousand boats. Watch the Christmas ships. Keep your telescope primed at all times.

CroquetCroquet is an outdoor lawn game that is played by knocking a ball through sets of hoops using a mallet. When setting up for a game of croquet, you must create a game area to place your hoops, which are also known as wickets. The most commonly played game is nine-wicket and uses a double diamond set-up.

A wide open lot next to a fabulous home... so many possibilities!! Some of these backyard sports should spark some ideas, time to use the imagination...

Batting CagesA great way for any baseball enthusiast or player to practice his hitting skills is to build a batting cage in the backyard. Having your own batting cage will save you a lot of money and allows you to practice when ever you have spare time. You can build a batting cage with just some materials and basic tools.SIZE: 70‘X17.5’

TennisFor people who are serious about their tennis and their workout, a home tennis court is not as much a luxury as it is a way to maintain a healthy lifestyle. With the help of a good contractor, a homeowner can quickly and easily erect a tennis court that will provide her with many pleasurable hours of healthy fun.SIZE: 36‘X78’

Pickleball Pickleball is a sport played with wooden paddles and a small, plastic baseball similar to a Wiffle ball. It’s a cross between ping-pong and tennis, played on a regulation badminton court with the net placed lower to the ground at approximately 34 inches. Pickleball can be played as a singles or doubles match.SIZE: 26‘x60’

BadmittonBadminton is a staple game at the American barbecue or cookout. Easy and fun to play, people of all ages can team up and bat the shuttlecock around. But if you want to kick it up a notch and get the neighbors talking, you can make a professional badminton court right in your very own backyard!SIZE: 36‘X78’

HorseshoesThrowing, or pitching, horseshoes has been a hobby and recreational activity for many years. What was once only an activity at family reunions, neighborhood picnics and friendly gatherings has grown into an organized sport.Including the buffer zone, the entire horseshoe court measures 10 feet wide by 50 feet long.SIZE: 36‘X72’

31

VolleyballYou can build your own indoor or outdoor volleyball court with well-designed plans and some time and money. You will need to choose whether to build a sand or hard volleyball court and find a large enough area to construct your court.SIZE: 60‘x30’

Putting GreenWhile it is possible to create your own backyard putting green with real turf, synthetic is frequently the more favorable option. With synthetic turf you don’t have to worry about maintenance like you would with natural turf. There is no need to trim the synthetic turf or keep it watered, and it’s extremely durable.

Play Set A backyard with a play set can keep children happily occupied for many hours. Whether your play set features only a couple of swings or your set is more elaborate with slides and climbing structures, the yard must be properly prepared prior to installing the play set.

Mini GolfMiniature golf has been played for years by adults and children. It is a smaller and often more whimsical version of golf that focuses mainly on putting through and around obstacles. If you enjoy playing mini golf, why not build a course right in your own backyard?SIZE: 8‘x20’ at least

Bocce BallWhile many owners of bocce sets simply play in their backyards, the game is meant to be played on a flat surface without high grass, making a homemade bocce court ideal for those who have a few free days and space to lay their own court.SIZE: 34’X6’

MERCER ISLAND PARKS

Mercer Island has 475 acres of parks and open spaces. Mercer Island Parks are open for year-round enjoyment and are the

perfect place for a variety of activities like: baseball, soccer, volleyball, having a picnic or taking a walk with the family.

Pioneer Park is our largest park, with 113 acres of beautiful forest and 6.6 miles of trails. The Park has been kept in a

natural state so that Island residents and other visitors can easily “get out” in the woods through the course of their daily

lives. Roads divide the park into three distinct quadrants.

Located on the northeast end of Mercer Island, Luther Burbank Park features spectacular views of Lake Washington, and has facilities for several water-based activities including swimming, boating and fishing. It is also a large park of 77 acres, and portions of its waterfront and wetlands foster a variety of wildlife such as 155 species of birds, beaver, muskrats and rabbits

There are many smaller parks, beach parks and street ends, providing an excellent opportunity for waterfront access and pursuing recreational activites.

MERCER ISLAND SCHOOLS

The Mercer Island School District is comprised of three elementary schools, one Middle School and one High School. The facilities, curriculum, instruction, and effective use of technology as a tool for learning are all factors in preparing students to think and succeed globally while using technology as an inherent part of everyday life. The district has more teachers with advanced education degrees than any other district in the Seattle area. It is known to be one of the highest assessment test-scoring districts in the State of Washington, and among the top in the nation.
