Congratualtions and Welcome to St. Joan of Arc

Congratulations on your recent engagement. Your upcoming wedding is more than a ceremony or a social event, it is a life long recognition of the presence and blessings of Christ and His Church, nourished and strengthened by the Holy Spirit.

This booklet is designed for the engaged couple to read together and discuss. It includes some of the policies of the Diocese of Phoenix and Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church.

This pamphlet should be used as a reference to the requirements and rules of the Church, but it should also help you in planning the ceremony.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Wedding Coordinator here at the parish, 602-867-9171.

Again, congratulations to both of you, and please don’t hesitate to call me if you need assistance.

God Bless,

Fr. Don KlinePastor, St. Joan of ArcJuly 16, 2010

Those who seek to be married during Lent should be advised to take account of the penitential season and thus accept a limitation of outward signs of solemnity and festivity.

In practice this means that, whenever possible, marriages during Lent should be discouraged. At Lenten celebration ofmarriage, flowers could be used inmoderation, but removed after the celebration.

If the gowns you choose for yourself and your bridal party are sleeveless or have only spaghetti straps, then a shawl must be used to cover the shoulders. Modesty, particularly when it comes to cleavage, is virtue to be observed.
