STATE TIMES NEWSR S PURA: Police on Tuesday detained a hardcore criminalafter authorities slapped the Public Safety Act (PSA) againsthim and sent him to jail in the city.
The district magistrate has slapped the PSA against crimi-nal Sheeter namely Paramjeet Kumar alias Jungi son of DeviDass resident of Dravptey, Tehsil R S.Pura, Distt. Jammuand was detained by the police and later sent to the KotBhalwal jail, a police official said.
The accused was involved in six different cases, includingattempt to murder and illegal possession of weapons in vari-ous police stations in the R S Pura belt since 2011, he said.The cases include FIR No. 78/2011 under section307/326/148/149 RPC, 4/25 A. Act, at Police Station MiranSahib; FIR No. 147/2014 under section307/323/147/149/120-B/RPC, 4/25 A. Act at Police StationR.S Pura; FIR No. 43/2015 under section S307/147/148/149 RPC, Police Station R.S Pura; FIR No.38/2016 under section 364/342/147/148/149 RPC, 4/25 A.Act, Police Station R.S Pura; FIR No. 154/2017 under sec-tion 307/ RPC, 3/25,4/25 A. Act, Police Station Miran Sahiband FIR No. 10/2018 under section 3/25 A. Act, PoliceStation R.S.Pura
A dossier was prepared by the police and submitted to thedistrict magistrate, the official said.
The PSA warrant was executed after making hectic/ sincereefforts and the criminal has been lodged at Central Jail, KotBhalwal, Jammu. The PSA warrant was executed by a policeparty headed by SI Ved Parkash under the close supervisionof Inspr. Bishnesh Kumar, SHO Police Station R.S Pura,Sourabh Prashar, SDPO R.S Pura, R.C Kotwal, SP Hqrs,Jammu and overall supervision of Vivek Gupta, SSP Jammu.

POONCH: Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) as well asTraffic police held separate traffic Nakas and realised a fineof Rs 17,700 from the defaulters.
The ARTO Poonch Abdul Raheem established a Naka nearDC office and Bus Stand and realised a fine of Rs 12,400 forviolating the MVD Act.
Meanwhile The Traffic police also laid number of trafficNakas and realised a fine of Rs 5,300 from the violators oftraffic norms. The Traffic Police also challaned over 20 vehi-cles. The ARTO while addressing the press asked trans-porters to strictly follow the MVD Act and observe trafficnorms failing which action will be taken against the default-ers according to law. He also advised the transporters whohave attached their vehicles with schools, to paint them.

SAMBA: One person was killed while another got injured inroad mishap at border road area of Rajpura in district Sambaon Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as 65 years Banarsi Dassson of Hem Raj resident of village Rajpura and injured asSurjit Singh son of Karnail Singh resident of Mawa Samba.
According to a report , A van without registration numberhit two pedestrians at Rajpura Chowk, resulting in both get-ting critical injures. They were shifted to District HospitalSamba for treatment, where doctors declared Banarsi Lal asbrought dead while the injured was referred to GovernmentMedical College Hospital Jammu for treatment. " The driverhas been arrested and vehicle seized" said Police Post OfficerRajpura Surinder Nagra.

KATHUA: Excise Department on Tuesday destroyed 750kgsof Lahan during different raids carried out against illicitliquor in Excise Range Kathua.
On the directions of the ExciseCommissioner and supervision ofDeputy Excise Commissioner(Executive), Jammu Ashish Gupta,the Excise Team Kathua led byETO Excise Range Kathua, VikasAnand, Inspector Excise SanjeevKhajuria, Arun Kumar, SI AmitSharma along with Excise GuardsRajinder Singh, Akeel Ahmed,Samsher Dev and Mohd. Sharif raided the Jakhbar Dambra,Chatyal, Chatrayala and Birso Chak areas of KathuaDistrict to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor.
In the process more than 750 Kgs of Lahan, raw materialof illicit liquor was recovered by the raiding team from Stateland and later destroyed on spot.

UDHAMPUR: Sudden lightening killed 53 livestock (sheepand horse) in Sankri (Ladha) hamlet in Tehsil Panchari.
According reports, due to terrible thundering and lightning22 sheep and a horse belonging to Mumtaz Ahmad son ofMohd. Latif resident of village Sanusar were killed at villageSankri hamlet in Tehsil Panchari last night. Sources revealedbesides that 30 sheep and goats got critical injuries. Mumtazreported the matter to Panchari Police which registered a casein this regard.

The minister congratulatedthe people of Rajouri andAuqaf Department for thesenewly created properties andasked for their proper andtimely maintenance.
Later, the minister partici-pated in a function organ-ised by Auqaf Departmentwhich was attended by intel-lectuals, Ullemas and largenumber of local people.
The minister also released2 books authored by Prof.Dr Mohammad BashirMagray namely 'Shahen-e-Shah-e-Jabbal' based on life,times and contribution ofBaaba Ghulam ShahBadshah (R.A) and'Systematic Geography ofJ&K State'.
Veeri congratulated Prof.Magray for authoring thesebooks and said that throughhis book, people will come toknow about life and contri-bution of Baba GhulamShah Badshah. He furthersaid that his book on geogra-phy will surely help thescholars/students studyingstates geography.

He furthersaid that Rs.26 crore havebeen sanctioned for theroad from Vijaypur toEsmpur and Rs. 8 crore forthe road from SwankhaMorh to Baba Chamblyal.
Responding to demands ofthe people, Ganga assuredthem that all their issueswould be taken up with theconcerned authorities foran early redressal.
