(SADKN)
• NDMA entered in to agreement with SDMC on 28th
April 2012
• Overall Objectives of SADKN:
– “To develop a world class Disaster Management network for SAARC countries, to provide a common platform for information sharing and develop acknowledge base to reduce the disaster risk and minimize the impact of disasters in South Asia.”
• Specific objective of Agreement was to open Pakistan Chapter on SADKN Portal
Collaboration with SDMC on SADKN

Pakistan joined SADKN to meet following key objectives:
•Knowledge sharing and analysis with the participation of relevant regional and sub-regional organizations
•Strengthening policies and informed decision-making on disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation
•Promoting comprehensive disaster preparedness planning by learning from best practices across SAARC region
•Promoting regional cooperative mechanisms and regional resource-sharing arrangements, including on information, communications and space technologies, to improve disaster preparedness and response in the region
•Integrating disaster risk reduction into Regional , national, sub-national and sectoral development planning
•Promoting comprehensive preparedness planning to mitigate the impacts of disasters
•Promoting resource-sharing and resource mobilization arrangements in the region
Key Objectives
• Developed Country profile of Pakistan for SADKN Country Page
• Prepared Directory of departments/organization and institutions working in Disaster Management in Pakistan to complement Regional Directory for SAARC Nations
• Collected disaster related material in soft and hard copies to be uploaded to the SADKN Portal
• Attended a training on SADKN organized by SDMC for all SAARC Member countries in India in 2012

• A training of Partners organizations to be organized in Pakistan on SADKN
• To work on the development of regional standards of Emergency Relief Management in South Asia
• A link to be placed on SADKN Portal of the Risk Assessment Shared Platform being developed in Pakistan
• SADKN model should be replicated to other regional cooperation fora such as ECO, OIC, ASEAN, etc to develop regional/global linkages
