قصة المجزرة التي تعرض لها أسطول الحرية وعلى متنها المناضل القومي ، أو الفارس العربي الأصيل كما عبَّرت عن ذلك “ جيهان حيدر ” زوجته عندما سئلت عن زوجها الأسير في فلسطين المحتلة الدكتور هاني سليمان الذي ترأس البعثة اللبنانية في “ أسطول الحرية ” وأصيب جراء الهجوم الهمجي الذي شنته القوات الإسرائيلية على القافلة المتوجهة إلى قطاع غزة يقول الدكتور سليمان هي جريمة هزت ضمير العالم من طنجة على الأطلسي، حتى جاكرتا في المحيط الهادئ، مروراً بأوروبا وأميركا ، فتلوّت إسرائيل على نار الشجب والإدانة ، في الصفحات الأولى لكبريات الصحف وفي الإنترنت والفضائيات ، في الشوارع كما في الأروقة ، في المحافل السياسية كما الدبلوماسية، لدرجة أن أميركا وللمرة الأولى في تاريخ السياسة الخارجية الأميركية ، وبسبب من الحرج ، تمتنع للمرة الأولى عن إعلان “ الفيتو ” ضد إدانة إسرائيل في مجلس الأمن
