GDP: Gross Domestic Product: this is how much a country produces in one year (determines the wealth of a country)
Caste System: To keep this simple it is a social structure. Commonly seen in India, people “belong” to a place within society and you interact with the people in your “level”. This is a cultural value, therefore reflects typically a Traditional Economy.

Now with your partner we are going to do a “Walk About”:
- During this you two will have 3 minutes to walk around summarize what they read and point out the productive resources and where they came from. We will share out as a class.

Your group will be given materials needed in your folder. (map, sort cards, paperclip)
You will get resource clues (that are numbered) and a world map.
Take turns in their group reading the resources, then categorizing and classifying them to find that location on the map and then writing the corresponding number on the map where that resource was made. Use the atlas in your desk to help locate countries
Draw lines to the connecting resources as they place them on the map.

There will be a recorder to judge each attempt…if you received an BLUE number then you are the recorder for that skill station.
The rest of you depending on your number that is the skill station in which you will start.
Simulation
There are 4 groups, the group you are in represents your country. But as of now we are testing YOUR individual skills.
All work is to be done independently by you!
Recorders since you are needed to judge each attempt. You will receive the highest score possible for each skill.
Simulation cont.
1. Service-you will be asked why you should be trusted. For this skill you will need to convince the judge that you are very, very trustworthy.
2. Sales – you will be given an object and it is your job to convince the student judge to buy the object from you.
3. Bureaucratic – you will be given a test that will determine whether you would make a good legal bureaucrat. You will alphabetize some words, then you will answer some questions about a law.
4. Computer – you will be given a test to determine what you know about computer programming. There are 10 questions to answer.

Step 3: Once you have sorted them into the categories, create a title for each category.

Step 5: Now below the sort cards of each column, use another post it note to write a short explanation as to why you placed those cards together.
