A Journey Through the History of Psychology

Maddie Dean

One day I woke up and went downstairs to find my brother…

using a sock’em bopper to separate Nick’s head from his body

My brother also found out that the boppers are glued to his hands. The “fists of knowledge” he calls them are built into him

Socrates

• Mind is separable from body and continuing after death

• Knowledge is built within us

Then I went outside to get some fresh air

And found my dad measuring seed for the flowers so that they will grow

Aristotle

• Used data and numbers • Knowledge is not pre-existing but grows from

experience

My mom came outside to remind me of our August yoga classes

Augustine

• Body influences mind• Mind influences body

On our way to yoga…My mom needed me to use “une carte” (map) because we got lost and I was born with a good sense of direction

My mom killed a chipmunk when driving

We were late to yoga so we just did it on the sidewalk

Descartes

• Innate ideas but body and mind connection strong

• Dissected animals

After yoga, we went to the Broadway Diner for some Bacon

We ordered our bacon even though our waiter made no sense when she spoke

Unfortunately the kitchen was “experimenting” with the bacon recipe and it was really bad

Bacon

• Experiments• The mind tries to make order out of nonsense

When we got home…We were locked outside our house and both mom and I tried equally to open it but it didn’t work

There was a blank slate hanging outside our front door

Locke

• We all start with a blank slate• We are all created equal at birth
