A “Short Handbook of Djinn” is dedicated to Lady Audrey Flanagan on her occasionof her birthday 23rd February 2013.
Djinn 1: QareenThe Qareen is very rarely visible to humans and is usually demonic in character.One Qareen is assigned to every human being as a constant lifelong companion.The Qareen makes it his business to lead his human astray by incessantly whisperingevil suggestions in his ear.
Djinn 2: IlfritThe Ifrit is an infernal winged creature known for his massive strength and cunning.Early folklore recounts that the Ifrit is formed from the blood of a murder victim.He is very powerful and can only be enslaved by magic. The Ifrit lives undergroundand lurks in ruins.
Djinn 3: MaridThe Marid, the most powerful of the Djinn, is unruly and rebellious. According tofolklore, the Marid has great knowledge of magic and can be persuaded to grantwishes to mortals. He is associated with the open waters of the ocean and issometimes known as the “Blue” Djinn.
