MiraclesAs I ponder on the rich resources at mydisposal, I awe humbly in my ability toarticulate the simple complexity that miraclesimbue. Life itself is a miracle. That I can sithere and write this, and in some other timeand space someone will read it, and then (Godwilling) will come to understand where mymind is flowing - that's a miracle.A miracle is that we can plant a seed in richsoil, and with the simple caress of the sun anda gentle stream of water, the seed willblossom. If we add our conscious caring loveand appreciation we can even accentuate thenatural harvesting and beauty of this miracle.Creating yet another one ... so, wherein liesthe miracle? Is it in the seed? The soil? The sun? Thewater? In some hidden force that animatessymbiosis? In the 'caring and appreciation'?In the awareness of all this happening? In allof these? In life itself?

What are miracles? Are they the unexplainedmade evident? Are they some mysticalhappenstance created by some God-force torestore harmony or to answer prayer? Arethey under our control? Influenced by ourparticipation? Are they just a label for whatlives beyond our veil? What are miracles?

According to A Course in Miracles, "Themiracle is always there ... Its presence is notcaused by our vision, it's absence is not theresult of our failure to see. The miracle isalways there ..." The seed has it's potentiality. The sun shines. Water abounds. Air is. Themiracle is all around us ... and inside us. Inour heartbeat, in every breath we take. It's inour ability to think, create, and understand.

But what are they? And how can we createthem? In truth, in order to create a miracle, we neednot do anything. The seed will grow withoutour participation. Yet with 'conscious caringlove and appreciation we can accentuate thenatural harvesting and beauty' miracles imbue. We can learn to harness the miracles livinginside us, envelope them with intention, andparticipate in the miraculous. The .miracle isalways there, our acknowledgement of themwill allow us relish their glory.AbracadabraI smiled deeply when I began to see the secretmeaning of the ageless riddle, you know, theone that says, "What's the magic word?"Abracadabra!Ageless teachings from our mystic ancestorstell us that the seed is in the idea behind theword. By feeding the seed (idea) the light ofawareness and the nectar of our emotions(water), it's illumination can become ourunderstanding (the fruit). As our empiricalscience and visionary mysticism intertwine,we find a symbiotic genesis of beauty andmeaning. And the mystic storytellers, becomesages once again.Webster's dictionary defines Abracadabra as,a mystical word used in incantations, onamulets, etc. as a means of warding offmisfortune, harm, or illness. Yes: but whatdoes this word mean? The ancient mysticteachings of the Kabbalah makes declarationto "he brachah dabarah (speak the blessing)when incanting. And the Hebrew words Ah(Father), Ben (Son), and Ruch a Cadsch(Holy Spirit) have been associated withAbracadabra in Hebrew folklore. It's Latinroot is a bit more existential; Abra means

open, and Cadabra means body/form. Or,'open form'.

The mystic wise from our past tell us that weare the path - that we must be of 'open form','speak the blessing', and bring together theFather, Son and the Holy Spirit. It is in ourbeing that life's mysteries are known. Themystic develops an intimate union of their soulwith God through spiritual contemplation. And in so doing, moves the cosmic forceswith greater wisdom and power. But to doso, they must first say (be) the magic word:Abracadabra.

In Summary

Miracles are always present. What often isnot, is our ability to recognize them, and thusour ability to harness their beauty. The magicword, Abracadabra, teaches us that we mustbe that which we seek. We must be open tothe miracle, learn from it, and act accordingly.
