ACP 360…

ACP 360MULTI-SOURCE ASSESSMENT

FOR PSYCHIATRISTS

CostsThe cost of ACP 360 is:• £110 + VAT per individual

• £99 + VAT (per individual for enrolments of 10 or more psychiatrists)

ACP 360 is the Royal College of Psychiatrists’multi-source assessment system. It has beendeveloped specifically for psychiatrists and providesstructured feedback on their performance.

It is designed to support individuals’ personaldevelopment and can be used as part oforganisations’ appraisal and performancemanagement systems.

By August 2010 over 3,000 psychiatrists had beenregistered with ACP 360. More than two-thirds ofthese were enrolled by participating NHS MentalHealth Trusts and Bodies.

For the individual

• Personal development: The feedback enablesindividuals to understand where their strengths anddevelopment areas lie and can support:• Increased self-awareness • Discovering blind spots • Understanding strengths • Enabling the psychiatrist to own and control

their personal development

• Revalidation: ACP 360 questionnaires will fullycomply with the GMC’s requirement for re-licensing. ACP 360 will therefore fulfil therequirements for both relicensing andrecertification, which will be undertaken as a one-stage process for doctors on the specialist register.

For organisations

Using ACP 360 can support:• Improved communication • More open culture • Improved team working and mutual understanding • Improved skills / capabilities

ACP 360 gathers feedback using validated andreliable questionnaires that measure an individual’sbehaviour in 8 domains that psychiatrists themselveshave identified as being important, including two ofthe GMC’s core domains – working with colleaguesand relating to patients. The domains it covers are:

• Communication• Availability• Emotional intelligence• Decision-making• Relationships with patients • Relationships with relatives, partners

and carers• Relationships with other psychiatrists• Relationships with team and external

agencies

75% found the results of the assessment helpful.

85% found the report clear and easy to understand.

90% agreed that the instructions were easy to followand that no training was required.

90% stated that the report would form part of theirnext appraisal.
