Did You Know?Did You Know?Did You Know?Did You Know? PETS: Did you know that senior citizens are able to adopt a pet from the Twin Falls Animal
Shelter with no fees? They have a fund set up that anyone can make a monetary donation
to that covers all the fees. To adopt you would need to fill out an application and you are
then able to choose a pet that you are interested in or call them daily for the new admits.
When that pet becomes available, the shelter will call you to come down and visit with the
pet you have chosen to see if it would be a good fit for you. You can contact the shelter at
208-736-2299 or www.twinfallsanimalshelter.com. They are located at 420 Victory Ave. in
Twin Falls. Please consider donating to their fund to keep the free adoptions going for our
seniors. A pet can bring companionship and many other benefits to our seniors.
OLD SCHOOL BUS: Did you know that the HJSD bought an uninsurable small bus for
$10,000?
SCHOOL LEVIES: Did you know that HJSD is requesting another $150,000 per year for 2
years on the March 9th vote? There is already a $250,000 per year for 5 years (until 2023)
levy for plant facilities. The March levy is in addition to the plant facilities levy. Please re-

RECALL OF HAGERMAN MAYOR
Reason for Recall: We, the undersigned citizens and registered electors of the city of
Hagerman, respectfully demand that Aran Jay, hording office of Mayor of the city of
Hagerman, be recalled by the registered electors of the city of Hagerman for the fol-
lowing reasons: *Refuses to enforce Hagerman City codes *Misuse and abuse of power
*Puts own agenda before the interest of the City *will not communicate, answer
phone, never available * Misappropriation of funds *Lack of leadership skills
*consistently puts city at risk for lawsuits - including: ADA laws, workplace Harassment,
Animal Control officer conduct and unaddressed complaints by the public. *Allows
contracts to lapse and expire putting citizens at risk and leaving them without pro-
tected twenty-four hour a day law enforcement coverage. *illegally overrides council
members request to amend the agenda to converse about such contracts *Does not
follow the city rules and regulations *Makes decisions without the backing of the coun-
cil first *Cost the City funds by not following through *Creates a hostile work environ-
ment *Uses City Hall & Secretary for personal business *Entered into contract for a
building with School District without council approval, and then did not get proper
permits until several months later.
Officer’s Justification: The special interest group leading this recall is clearly mounting
a solely personal attack on Mayor Alan Jay. These allegations are purely speculative,
are mere opinion, misleading, and easily proven false as they are not based on
facts. Alan Jay has served most of his life in service to our Country and is always look-
ing out for the best interest of the community and the citizens of Hagerman. Mayor Jay
has served 2 terms as Councilman, and is 1 of 2 City Council members with any prior
experience in city government. Although the Covid-19 pandemic presented many ob-
stacles, the City has solved many issues during difficult times. Mayor Jay has spear-
headed many updates and improvements such as the revision of the animal codes to
include changes asked for by the community, updating City manuals and improving
City procedures that haven't been addressed for many years. Alan Jay has always been
a productive part of the community and is always willing to give of himself in service to
others. He is an effective leader who unites city staff to work together for the best in-
terest of the community we serve. Alan Jay is a knowledgeable, motivated leader who
gets things done.

HAGERMAN HJSD BOARD MEETING: Feb 8, 7p. High School Media Center. TO AU-
THORIZE AND EMPOWER THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF JT. HAGERMAN SCHOOL DIS-
TRICT NO. 233, GOODING and TWIN FALLS COUNTIES, IDAHO, TO LEVY A SUPPLEMEN-
TAL LEVY
QUESTION: Shall the Board of Trustees be authorized to levy a supplemental levy in
the amount of $150,000 per year for a period of two years commencing with the fiscal
year beginning July 1, 2021, for the purpose of paying all lawful expenses of maintain-
ing and operating the schools of the District as provided in the resolution of the Board
of Trustees adopted on January 11, 2021?
The estimated average annual cost to the taxpayer on the proposed levy based on the
data above is a tax of $63.49 per $100,000 of taxable assessed values based on current
conditions. Currently, the District collects a supplemental levy authorized in the
amount of $200,000 which will expire when the proposed levy goes into effect.
Gooding for July 1, 2021. GJSD BOARD MEETING: Feb 9, 7p. School District Office.
QUESTION: Shall the Board of Trustees of Joint School District No. 231, Gooding and
Lincoln Counties, State of Idaho, be authorized and empowered to levy a Supplemen-
tal Levy in the amount of Six Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($650,000) per year for
two (2) years, commencing with the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2021 and ending June
30, 2023, for the purpose of financing any lawful expenses of maintaining and operat-
ing the District; all as provided in the Resolution adopted by the Board of Trustees on
January 11, 2021?
The estimated average annual cost to the taxpayer on the proposed levy is a tax of
$103 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value, per year, based on current condi-
tions. Currently, the District collects a supplemental levy authorized in the same
amount that costs $103 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value, which will expire
when the proposed levy goes into effect. Therefore, the proposed levy will not in-
crease the tax per $100,000 based on current conditions.

Welcome to February, Hagerman! I hope we all have fun with our sweethearts this month.
I’d like to start off by thanking the Chamber of Commerce for the lights in the city park and city hall. Thank you for your continued ser-vice to our community.
The J Team (city staff) has been out sealing road cracks again this last month. This should help pro-long the lives of our streets.
The clerks have been busy this month with final drafts of the Ani-mal control, personnel manage-
ment file and recently the 2nd Amendment Sanctuary City resolu-tion.
Here’s some basic information I want to get out there: you can't live in a trailer or a 5th wheel in the city. I will be sending out letters as complaints come in. Please remember to keep Hager-man beautiful!

Pete’s Patch:
Located on the Pacific Flyway, Hagerman Valley’s riparian habitat along the river hosts a variety of neotropical migrants during the spring and summer months.
With warmer temperatures, year round open water, a laced network of sheltered ponds and marshes and plenty of food in nearby fields, it’s possi-ble to see as many as 200 bird species during the 3-day Bird Festival, sched-uled this year for April 23-25.
As usual, birds on on their own schedule. It is very important for you to call 208-536-0094 to get on the bird tour text list so you will be notified what tours are being offered and when. For more information on your preferred birding tour, please email HagermanTours@gmail.com. Remember, the bird tour schedule is tentative and subject to the arrival of the birds in this area.
This year’s birding tour season looks very good. From the Eagle Tree to the swans, herons, western grebe, plus many songbirds too numerous to men-tion will all be waiting for you.
Gather your family up to enjoy on of our day trip bird tours, or the three day Bird Festival with tours for hummingbirds, raptors, shore birds, back yard song birds, the blue bird trail and the cassia crossbill in the South Hills.
Feel free to come to our office to find out more about our barn owl box re-search program and see one of our boxes and camera and how our involve-ment in this research is a win for owls, farmers and the environment.

Brent (Twinkle Toes) Nakano Passed away November 28, 2020
This letter is to all who knew and loved Brent. He loved this community and he loved everyone in it. If you ask, nobody ever heard him say a negative word about anyone; we believe Brent was more ill than he ever let on, but nobody ever heard him complain.
This letter is to thank everyone who participated in helping to make his dream come true – to send his daughter Meadow to college. Two fund-raisers were held in Brent’s honor: one at the Angler’s in Hagerman and the other at Outlaws and Angels.
On December 19th, a fundraiser was held at Outlaws and Angels in Bliss. We would like to thank all of those who donated raffles prizes; those individuals are as fol-lows: Budweiser, Chappels Market, Main Street Wine, Nikki Mitchell, Riverboat, Roger (Chappels), Rose Schwarzbach, Simmerlys Market, Sweet Pea Boutique, Cathy Wilsing, Wilson’s, Ziggy’s in Bliss and Ziggy’s in Hagerman. Thank you to Billie and the Shenanigans for donating their time and monies. And, thanks to Dan Carter and Steven Hillman. There are so many people who participated behind the scenes to put both benefits together, thank you so much to everyone of you – you know who you are.
But most of all, we would like to thank our community. It truly takes a village, and it took not only those that donated raffle prizes but those we were so kind and generous with their monies and time for our beloved Twinkle Toes.
The monies raised will help provide the future Brent dreamed for Meadow.
