Some Background on the AFOLU COP
• Launched in April 2018 as an interactive network of African institutions addressing technical and policy challenges and solutions in the AFOLU sector.
• Provides a platform to:• Facilitate peer-to-peer exchange and collaboration• Provide demand-driven technical assistance and training• Share best practices, tools, resources and case studies• Foster champion institutes to carry on the work of the CoP
Priorities areas for the AFOLU CoP• agroforestry action as a driver of socioeconomic
development and emission reductions
• linking agricultural production with sustainable energy sources
• analytical approaches to assess GHG emissions and socioeconomic impacts of LEDS actions
• Long-term planning and decarbonization of the land-use sector
• translating analytical results to concrete policies and actions
Climate Helpdesk - Ad hoc support for NDCs, LT LEDS and transparency systems
Global advisory network providing rapid, high quality, short-term technical assistance for developing countries. A joint service by LEDS GP and Partnership on Transparency in the Paris Agreement (PATPA) in cooperation with the NDC Partnership.
