OVERVIEW
The following infographics were created for Collective Responsibility, an environmental consultancy firm based in Shanghai, China.
Growing up in a family of different backgrounds, I often had to translate for visitors so they could understand a language they did not speak. For many, a large set of data may seem like an entirely foreign language in itself. In the 21st century, it’s hard to make sense of such large swaths of information we encounter on a daily basis. Accordingly, data visualization is intrinsic to a multilingual graphic designer like me.
I encountered many challenges creating these designs. Aesthetically speaking, it can get quite difficult to create an informative graphic that will catch someone’s attention and keep it to the end of the post. Often times, even from the designer’s perspective, it seemed as if there were too many variables, too many values, and too many visions from researchers.
It was fascinating working with Collective Responsibility, as I learned how to present significance in data in a visual context. There were several instances where patterns, trends, and correlations had gone undetected by my research coworkers at first through text, but were exposed after creating an infographic. I believe that data visualization is imperative in such an information-saturated environment.

UW Feds Poster Design
UW FEDSPOSTER DESIGNAn aesthetic approach to promoting exciting campus events.
PURPOSE:PROFESSIONAL
TIME:JAN - DEC 2014
LOCATION:WATERLOO, ON
OVERVIEW
The following posters were created for the Federation of Students, the undergraduate student union of the University of Waterloo, Canada.
During my first year of university, I lived in an on-campus residence that threw me into an exciting student environment. The combination of our student union’s events and living with other first-years were an unforgettable experience. After moving off campus in my second year, I wanted to find a way to give back and get other students involved too. With my skill set and an open, part-time, paid position available, it wasn’t too difficult to decide how I would do so.
With my time working at the Federation of Students, I quickly learned what it was like to design under pressure. Every day in the office had dozens of design requests from different clubs, societies and services trying to get students to attend their events. Hence, I was put in the hot seat with very limited amounts of time to create posters and advertisements trying to appeal to the student body (generally speaking, good marketing and promises of free food were the most successful events).
I believe that my time working with Feds was invaluable; it was my first time working as a designer and quickly learned that organization and time management are imperative to the profession.

OVERVIEW
The following posters were created without commission and were created entirely out of personal interest or through volunteer organizations.
This is where it all began — a combination of a DSLR camera, the Adobe Creative Suite and teenage boredom led me to where I am today. Back when I was in high school, I discovered that a camera didn’t only have the power to capture photos, it could be used to design. An accidental bump to the manual setting led to an exposure of streaks of light and, before I knew it, I was creating “light writing”. As part of a grade 11 assignment, I created a poster for the school’s Valentine’s Day dance, which got recognized and was chosen as the event’s poster.
Years of YouTube tutorials, trial and error, and frustration have been my learning resources. Accordingly, I have produced a variety of designs, including my first clothing print. I hope to continue this cycle of learning as I’ve learned that the possibilities are endless for design.

DESIGN ANDENVIRONMENTA vision for Westmount with the pedestrian in mind.
PURPOSE:ACADEMIC
TIME:SEPT - DEC 2013
LOCATION:WATERLOO, ON
OVERVIEW
The following projects were completed working with a team of four other University of Waterloo urban planning students: Marc Dommanget, Emily Collins, Aaron Cheng and Jill MacDonald.
This suburban Waterloo site experienced rapid periods of development during the post-war economic boom and has seen little activity since. With the goals of walkability, accessibility and environmental conservation in mind, we created a vision of Westmount with the pedestrian in mind.
