SALAD BAR LUNCHEON The date for the salad bar luncheon is Thursday, May 7, 2020,
from 11 am to 1 pm. The chair this year is Rebecca Smith
with consulting services by Sharon Menge. This year we will
be back in our dining room. Rebecca will be calling those who
helped last year to see if they will assist this year. I look
forward to working with all of you. If you have questions or

BIRTHRIGHT BABY SHOWER
During the month of February, Catholic Daughters collect donations for
Birthright. Birthright of Fargo-Moorhead helps women with an unplanned
pregnancy with information, referrals and resources. There is a playpen in
the gathering space where donations can be dropped off.

SOUP NEEDED
We are looking for some people to volunteers to make soup and
serve for our soup suppers during Lent. We will hold the soup
suppers at 6 pm on March 4, 11, 18 and 25, and also April 1.

PALMS NEEDED
Ash Wednesday is quickly approaching and we need your dried
palms for ashes. Please bring your palms to church and deposit
them in the baskets located in the gathering space. You can stop by
the church anytime to drop them off in the baskets or with Dennis in
the Parish Office. Thank you.

Students grades 6 to 12, join us on February 22, from 6 to 9pm at the St Joseph’s Gym
for Fun with Friends and Pizza! Learn to play the popular Gaga Ball and 9 square in the

Position Opening Parish: St. Francis de Sales, Moorhead/St. John the Baptist, Georgetown
Job Title: Liturgy and Music Coordinator
Type of Job: Full time, salaried with benefits, 12 months, Exempt Position
Responsibilities and Tasks: Music ministry (recruit and direct adult choir, encourage development
of other groups: children’s choir, high school choir, etc.; recruit, train and schedule cantors and
musicians for all liturgies and prayer services). Liturgies (prepare and implement Sunday, Holy
Day, Triduum, Easter and Christmas celebrations and for each season of the year, compose
liturgical aids when necessary, assist couples in planning marriage ceremonies, funeral planning
with families, serve as baptismal coordinator, recruit and train all volunteer coordinators for
ushers/greeters, communion ministers, altar servers, lectors sacristans and coordinate training
for all liturgical ministers). Worship Space (Recruit individual to chair and members to advise and
assist in art and environment, see to upkeep of liturgical vessels and worship space and maintain
the liturgical supplies: wine, candles, baptismal gowns, etc.) Other (have a working knowledge of
Conciliar and Post-Conciliar documents of Vatican II and the Catechism of the Roman Catholic
Church. Serve as a resource person to other staff planning liturgical services).

In the event of a blizzard warning in Fargo-Moorhead, or when St. Joseph’s School is cancelled, the parish office will be closed and all activities cancelled, including daily morning Mass. Weekend Mass will ordinarily be celebrated for those who can safely make it to the church. If a “no travel advisory” is in effect parishioners should stay home.
Cancellations will be decided on a case-by-case basis in the event of less severe weather (such as a winter storm warning). In all cases of severe weather, closings and cancellations will be advertised on local TV and radio stations KVLY, KFGO, and WDAY, and on the parish website, www.stfrancismhd.org.

DIOCESAN ANNUAL APPEAL 2020 Have you made a commitment to the Diocesan Annual Appeal
(DAA)? Consider our call to GOD PRAYER and SERVICE. If you have

Catholic Daughters Scholarships
The Catholic Daughters of the Americas are sponsoring a
scholarship contest for confirmed high school seniors who are
members of St. Francis or a neighboring parish. There will be 2 -
$250 scholarships awarded by drawing. Deadline for application
is April 5. Applications are available in the parish office or in the
counseling office at Moorhead High. For more details call Kathy

SOUP AND PIE DINNER
The Catholic Daughters, Court St. Mary #509 in Moorhead will be
holding their annual Soup and Pie Dinner on Thursday, February 20
from 4:30 p.m.– 6:30 p.m. in The Gathering Place at St. Joseph's in
Moorhead. Please join us for homemade popovers, and a variety of
soups and pies. Adults are $8 and children ages 5-10 are $4.

St. John Paul II Youth Camp
Saint John Paul II Camp is for youth entering grades 7-9 who have a
desire to deepen their faith, live in that faith and share their faith with
others. Throughout the camp, youth will be encouraged and
mentored as they engage in prayer, worship, leadership
development, spiritual reflection and service. The five-day experience
is designed to encourage and equip youth for discipleship. Spots are
limited, so encourage your youth to register soon. The 2020 Camps
will once again be held at Northern Pines Camp, 20033 County Road 1, Park Rapids, MN
56470 Dates: Sunday, July 5th – Thursday, July 9th AND Sunday, July 12th – Thursday, July
16th Cost: $325.00 per camper OR $300.00 per camper for two or more members of the
same family. (A confirmation email will be sent to the e-mail address provided during
registration. Spots are not held for registrants until the deposit payment has been received.)
