The Future The Future …… ChallengesChallenges

The ICTL qualifications were originally developed to meet the needs of the Public Library sector, but there has been strong interest shown from other sectors, eg: schools, colleges, universities, company libraries etc.

In the longer term there may also be interest from other related areas, eg: museums, archives etc.

Some of the units, eg: Reader Development are not well suited to delivery in other areas.

The Future The Future …… Possible ApproachesPossible Approaches

Revise existing units and learning materials to make them more generally applicable.

Revise Core/Options structure to reduce the number of core units and allow a wider range of options.

Produce new units or import existing units to meet the needs of other sectors.

The Future The Future …… ConsultationConsultation

Public consultation events will take place in September.

Probably one in Scotland and one in London, as qualifications are UK-wide.

Qualifications will be revised in line with findings from consultation.
