Mrs. Nichol, who has
been a valued member
of the Manor Green
team for over 27 years,
has taken the decision
to retire due to on-going
ill health. Amongst other
things, Mrs. Nichol will be
remembered for her
work developing
Modern Foreign
Languages at Manor
Green – including
twinning events with
Montigny-le-Bretonneux.
Staff, children and
governors, both past
and present, would like
to thank her for
everything and wish her
all the very best.

Welcome, Mrs. Hurst We’re pleased to welcome Mrs. Hurst to
the Manor Green team. Mrs. Hurst joined
us on Monday and will be teaching
Reception Yellow on a full-time basis.
Children have had a wonderful first week
with Mrs. Hurst and she’s looking forward
to a fun filled Reception Yellow year!
As you know…
Our staff work their hardest
for our children to ensure
that they are safe, happy
and work as best as they
can. Please be reminded
that our staff will not
tolerate abuse of any form
whether that is face to
face, over the phone,
through email or through
a public social media site.
We follow and are
supported by Focus-Trust’s
zero tolerance policy and
have the right to follow
any abuse up by seeking
legal advice from
Focus-Trust.
As we are
encouraging our
children to develop
their all-important
independence skills,
please do not
accompany them in to
the classroom in the
morning. Staff will
support children with
getting ready for the
day where they need
it. Many thanks.
Revolting! - @MrsRickettsMG ‘Year 1 Yellow had a great time inventing
a revolting teacher for our poetry day
(based around Roald Dahl’s ‘Revolting

Proud of your Poetry - @MrMycroftMG
We’re very proud of Sophie and Dylan from 6G for their
wonderful sonnet based around our academy values. We were
so impressed that we turned the first line of their sonnet in to a
poster which is now on display in Mrs. Warren’s office and
around our academy.
Cooperative Learning -
@MGPAcademy ‘Fantastic Staff Development session
about Cooperative Learning
Structures this week.
Some fantastic ideas to use in class!’
Growth Mindset Growing -
@MrsOConnor3Y ‘Some children in 3Y have really got their
teeth into maths. We are doing column
addition and subtraction at the moment
and some children are choosing to do
extra work at home and are making up
their own calculations!’
Magic Breakfast! Magic Breakfast has been a big hit at
Manor Green! In addition to the free
bagel and cereal options, children can
still buy one of Annie’s Daily Specials.

yourself to and when!

Perfectly Fair Poetry - @MrM_6Yellow ‘This week, 6 Yellow has loved working together,
producing amazing sonnet poems about fairness.
Well done!’
#SpreadTheHappiness - @MGPAcademy This week we were delighted to host a
#SpreadTheHappiness event at Manor Green lead by
the amazing Shonette Bason-Wood. All staff were invited
to join the laughter filled twilight session and those who
attended, along with staff from other local schools,
thoroughly enjoyed it and certainly felt like happiness
had been spread! Thanks to Annie and the kitchen team
for the amazing Rice Krispie treats too!
Splish, Splash, Splosh! @NurseryMGPA ‘When it rains, why not have fun and jump in a puddle!’
Growth Mindset - @MrsOConnor3Y ‘GREAT GROWTH MINDSET! This young lady did 150
TTRS games this week for her homework! Excellent
attitude! Great role model!’
Goodbye and Good Luck! We would like to say to thank you very
much to Mr. Baines, who has been
working in Year 1 Yellow, and Miss
Fayyaz, who has been working in Year
2 Green. Mr. Baines and Miss Fayyaz
have been based with us as part of
their Teacher Training through the
Focus-Trust ITT programme.
Both have thrown themselves in to the roll, got involved
with all staff meetings, school events and will be missed.
Thanks for all that you have done!

and Year 2 finish at 3:15pm prompt
and should be collected from their
classroom door ready for you to
meet your Key Stage 2 children at
3:20pm. Thank you.
Digestive Drama - @MissWebbMG ‘We used drama to act out the journey of a
piece of chocolate through the digestive
system. Every person in the class joined in and
it made us giggle a lot! Afterwards, we
imagined we were the chocolate and wrote
a short story of our adventure.’
How amazing that poet Kenn Nesbitt
was so impressed with the work of
3G that he took the time to tweet
them! We’re not surprised that
Kenn was impressed with 3G,
they’re fantastic!
Picture News
In assembly
each Friday,
we introduce
the next
‘Picture News’
image to our
classes. The
image will
then be
discussed in
classes
throughout
the week.
We’re excited
to share
‘Picture News
at Home’ with
you so that
you can get
involved too.
Talk to your
children
about the
image and
they can feed
back to their
teachers.
Things to talk about at home…
• It’s often thought that men and women think differently, do you think this is true? Why?
• Do you think some jobs are better suited to men and others to women or do you think
that this is old-fashioned?
• Do you think older people have different views about this to you? Why do you think this
might be the case?
Encourage your child to talk to their teacher about your discussions at home!
Scientists conducting
the world’s largest
study of gender
differences in the
brain have recently
found men were more
likely to prefer “things”
and “systems”, while
women were more
interested in people
and emotions. It is a
heavily debated issue
as to why some jobs in
areas such as
engineering or
construction are
mainly chosen by
men, and others such
as beauty and caring
professions, are mainly
chosen by women.
British Values Matter at Manor Green
British values referred to at school up and down the country, not just Manor Green. British Values are:
democracy; the rule of law; individual liberty; mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths
and beliefs and for those without faith. Whether at school or not, we’re sure you can see the importance of
these significant values to today’s society.
Linked with our Picture News, we’ll share a British Value, and thought to reflect on, each week.
Small Steps - @MrMycroftMG ‘‘Every journey starts with a small step.
Where will your journey take you?’
Every child in our academy has
contributed to this display. Where will
your learning go today?’
Manor Green’s
Marvellous Menus
As you know, we’re

an exciting new

The children love
