Dear Taekwondo Athletes, Coaches, Officials and Supporters:
The Arizona Taekwondo Association would like to personally invite you to the 2014 Arizona State Taekwondo Championship on March 8, 2013 on the campus of Arizona State University. This event will be the first Arizona State Championship held Arizona in many years.
The Arizona Taekwondo Association (AZTA) is the USA Taekwondo approved organization for the state of Arizona. Our non-profit organization is committed to enabling athletes to achieve sustained competitive excellence, while promoting the growth of Sport Taekwondo throughout Arizona. Our events will help fund the Arizona State Taekwondo Team, workshops, seminars and other educational events. We welcome your participation and encourage you to share in our successes. Membership to the AZTA is available to all schools. We wish that our success can be success for your athletes as well! This State Championship is an official USA Taekwondo National Qualifying event. Athletes must compete in the State Championship to be eligible to go to Nationals. Athletes placing in the top four of their division will qualify themselves for participation in the 2014 USA Taekwondo World Class Division of the National Championships. For those of you who are already familiar with us, you know our dedication to supporting athletes and developing sport Taekwondo here in Arizona. This can only be continued if we encourage sound fundamentals, build relationships and remain true to our martial arts values. We invite you to come and experience our event and see what we have been working so hard to grow. With your help and support for the Arizona Taekwondo Association we can continue our efforts to bring in fun, exciting and competitive events to our region. Attention all USAT Certified Referees and prospective Referees:
The Arizona Taekwondo Association is promoting the growth of all aspects of Sport Taekwondo competition and invites you to participate in the upcoming 2014 Arizona State Taekwondo Championship. Certified Referees who attend the State Championship will receive the following benefits: I/R Level: $100 Stipend, 1 night hotel stay (if needed) A, B, C or D Level: $50 Stipend, 1 night hotel stay (if needed) All Referees will be provided food and drinks at the venue during competition.
We will be following all current USAT Rules and Guidelines, using Ringmaster and Daedo True Score Scoring Systems and having six - 8m x 8m rings. The ring staffing format should include:
1 - Technical Assistant 4 - Certified Referees 1 - Computer Operator 3 - 4 Ring Runners
We truly look forward to your participation, realizing that the best way to improve the value of our events is to run them in a timely fashion with highly capable and experienced referees. We will do our absolute best to minimize downtime, keep the competitors flowing to the rings, and ensure that the day starts and ends on time.
If you are available to be an official for our event, please register online through Hang-A-Star or fill out the referee certification seminar form attached to this event packet to let us know that you would like to attend the training. After the seminar you will be able to indicate if you would like to attend the event. Our sincerest thanks for your participation in advance!

Prerequisites MEMBERSHIP - All participants must be current paid and registered 2014 USA Taekwondo members
COACHING EDUCATION - The mimimum level of coaching education to register for the State
Championship is the Associate Coach Level. For information on attaining this level of certification please
visit http://usa-taekwondo.us/coaching. This certification may be obtained by taking the USA Taekwondo
Certification Course online. Register online to coach after passing the AC Course.
All Coach need to attend Meeting either 7pm at AZ Dragon Taekwondo address below or 9am at
Tournament place to update RULES.

Equipment The Arizona Taekwondo Association will be using Daedo True Score EBP at this event for black belts and we will be supplying the electronic body protectors. Black Belt Athletes are required to have your own Daedo sensor socks. These can be purchased online or from your school. All athletes will be responsible for supplying their own headgear, gloves, foot pads, arm and shin guards,
mouth guards and all necessary taping.

Weight Divisions & Competition Format The Arizona Taekwondo Association will be using the Age/Weight Divisions found in the USAT
Competition Rules (link provided above). The competition format is listed below:
Sparring
All Color Belt and 9 & under Black Belt divisions will spar two one-minute rounds with a 30 second rest
periods in single elimination brackets. All 10 & over Black Belts will spar two two-minute rounds with a 30
second rest.
Poomsae
All Color Belt and Junior Black Belt 9 & Under forms divisions will be single elimination
