- 1. Equipment In the process of constructing my film I have
learnt a lot about the technologies I have used. I used a Canon EOS
100D to film the opening in 1080P HD. The advantages were that the
camera allowed us to watch footage back while filming with the
addition of touchscreen to make sure we could re shoot parts and
therefore upload every shot in the best quality. I have learnt from
this process, after a failed attempts, that this tool was very
useful in making sure we didnt have to re-film a third time. We
used the tripod making sure that every shot was steady and that
made it easier to use different shot types and camera movements
such as low angles or pans. I have learnt that this is the best way
to create smooth and effective footage.
- 2. Technology For the editing process I used Adobe Premier Pro.
The advantages are the quality of film that the program allows and
the ease of effects such as zooms, fades and titles. I have learnt
from Premier Pro that a good editing software can make a huge
difference on he final outcome of some shots. For freeze frames for
my character titles I used Photoshop to achieve the perfect
filter/effect on the character as well as font and added shape. I
have learnt from using this that using different programs
collaboratively is definitely effective for an overall outcome. I
also used an already familiar site, Facebook to communicate with my
partner and learnt that it was a very quick and effective way to
keep in touch.
- 3. SoundTo increase the sound quality we used a Rode microphone
and boom to record better sound than the in-built camera
microphone. We found that the in-built mic captured a lot of
background noise especially outside. The Rode mic and boom with the
addition of a windbreaker helped to create the crisp sound that we
used in our final piece. The boom helped film shots where the
subjects were far from the camera but the sound still had to be
recorded with the Rode mic. I have learnt that this is always the
best way to film sound. Web used non-diegetic and diegetic music in
our opening and we used Premier Pro to edit the clip and make sure
there was a noticeable difference between the two. We also had to
reduce the bass on a certain part of the voiceover used. Premier
Pro helped execute the editing for a successful outcome and I have
learnt that it is a very good way of editing sound.
