• January 2019 – Standards Australia agreed not to withdraw

AS2278.1: 2008 . [Have until late January 2020 to submit a

detailed proposal for revision of AS2278]

• Continued to push NTC to support Limited Quantities reform.

Participated in workshop in Melbourne on 2 September with

Amazon, Coles, emergency services and all major transport

companies to explore options to adopt the EU position on LQs

• Liaised with BAMA and FEA on aerosol incidents and

recycling/ hazardous waste issues

• Participated in AIDGC Workshop and National Conference on

Aerosol Warehousing and liaised extensively with members

impacted by moves to comply with AS/NZS 3833 limits on

retail storage. Will continue dialogue with AIDGC to push for

reform of AS/NZS 3833

Achievements 2018/19:

• Extensive dialogue and representations to TGA re ‘regulatory

reform’ of Disinfectants and Sterilants

• Weights & Measures - Participated in two meetings of NMI

Community and Industry Liaison Committee. [Moves to review

placement of the measurement mark have been absorbed within

wide-ranging review of measurement law and are many years

away as a result]

• APVMA – lodged formal complaint re unregistered Korean [parallel]

import (again!)

• Several meetings with Safe Work NSW to lobby (successfully) for

adoption of later editions of GHS Text

• Introduced email alerts for information on aerosol recalls and

provided extensive support for affected members

Achievements 2018/19 (cont’d):

• Recycling – several meetings with APCO (incl. teleconf with

PREP) and meeting with WCRA (NSW)

• One day ‘Introduction to Aerosol Technology’ Workshop and

Regulatory Workshop held in late 2018

• Both continue to receive excellent support and feedback

Achievements 2018/19 (cont’d):

• Assisting Japanese Association with

hosting of FEA International Liaison

Committee meeting in Tokyo in late

October 2019 (will also include the

2019 AAF meeting)

• Australia will chair the ILC meeting

and provide secretariat functions

• ILC meeting and one day Forum will

focus on issues around recycling/

waste aerosols

• Revision of EU Aerosol Dispensers Directive to cover plastic

aerosols has stalled due to concerns about recyclability and

negative focus on single-use plastics

• Moves to get UN approval for increase in maximum permitted

pressure (to 15 bar) were ‘sent back to the drawing board’ at recent

UN meetings in Geneva
