Backlash-free Servo-insert CouplingsBacklash-free Servo-insert Couplings Technical Description
1) Dynamic torsional stiffness at 0.5 x TkNDynamic balancing is required for speeds exceeding V=30m/s
The couplings can be finetuned to the specificapplication requirements interms of torsional stiffnessand vibration behaviour byselecting from various co-lor coded elastomeric spi-ders having different gra-des of shore hardness.
Technical termsfor the coup-ling designPre-Compression: The curvedjaw couplings are designed tohave an interference fit betweenthe coupling hubs and elastomerspider for real backlash free ope-ration. Therefore the flexible spi-der needs to be pre-compressedfor proper seating during the as-sembly procedure. The amountof pre-compression varies widelydepending on the shore harnessof the spider, the size of the cou-pling and the machining toleran-ces. A light force is necessary topre-compress the torsionally softspiders while a large force isrequired to pre-compress a tor-sionally stiff spider.
TkN – Nominal Torque of cou-pling (Nm): Continuous torquewhich can be transmitted throughout the entire speed range, taking into considerationoperational factors such as ambi-ent temperature and torsionalstiffness.
Tkmax – Maximum Torque ofcoupling (Nm): Torque to betransmitted 1 x 10^5 times as apeak load or 5 x 10^4 times asan alternating load during theentire life of the coupling takinginto consideration factors suchas temperature, torsional stiff-ness and shock loading.
