Discounted Solar & Zero Emissions Vehicles

Palo Alto September 17th, 2016

• We have the technology we need to create a world powered by 100% clean energy. • To beat climate change we have to deploy that technology must faster.

Why SunShares?

Barriers to Faster Clean Energy Uptake

• High upfront costs • Public perceptions of

economics • Information overload

and customer confusion

• …All adds up to higher costs for companies and customers

Benefits of SunShares SunShares makes it simple and affordable to go solar or get a zero emissions vehicle by: • Using the power of group buying to provide great discounts • Pre-vetting solar and zero emissions vehicle contractors • Providing third party technical assistance to simplify buying

decisions

How SunShares Works Step 1: Cities and major employers aggregate demand by agreeing to conduct outreach about the program. Step 2: Solar developers and vehicle manufacturers respond to a competitive RFP calling for limited time discounts in exchange for help reaching and educating customers. Step 3: A community review committee vets proposals and selects contractors. Step 4: Any Bay Area resident can sign up for discounts or attend workshops to learn more!

How Solar Works The Grid Tied Solar Electric System

Solar Panels Sunlight creates DC Electricity

Inverter Changes DC Power to AC (AC Power used in Home)

Net Metering Excess (Unused) power turns your meter backward and travels back into the grid. Utility is sues credits for power produced.
