Whether or not you are preparing a bento, brown bag, lunch box,
plate for your children, you need quick and healthy soluRons for
mealRmes. Unfortunately, if you are anything like me, you ohen
find yourself stuck in a rut and giving your kids the same things
over and over again, day aher day.
Hopefully, this ebook will serve as an easy reference for you to
gain inspiraRon and easy nutriRous ideas that will keep your
children happy and healthy… and full.
Pssst… Hey, smart parent reading this: I know you don’t need to
be reminded to use your own discreRon and be wise about
feeding your younger child hard and /or chunky foods. I know you
already quarter grapes and sohen carrots and all that. So, I won’t

Snack Time Ideas
I ohen feel like my children are bored at snack Rme since I tend to
sRck with whatever is easiest: crackers, cheese, fresh fruit or fresh
vegetables but not necessarily mixed together. Just hand it to
them and go!
Since my youngest son seems to be endlessly hungry, I decided to
try to bump up our snack rouRne a liDle, trying to incorporate
more of the food groups (especially protein) in our mid-‐morning
and mid-‐ahernoon snacks.
If you have been looking for a list of easy but healthy snacks, I
hope these ideas for feeding the kids (and momma too!) will
inspire you.
Snacks with Apples
Apple Raisin Snacks – Chopped up yummies with peanut buDer
spread, wrapped in a torRlla at Frugal Family Favorites.
Filled Sugar Cones -‐ Fill sugar cones with chopped apple, raisins,
and mini marshmallows for a fun and easy aher school snack!
Apple Pie Crackers – Graham crackers with cream cheese mixed
with applesauce.

sizes.
Gourmet Apple Slices – Decorate slices of apples with melted
chocolate, chopped nuts, or shredded coconut.
Fruity Kabobs – Place grapes, apples, and marshmallows on
bamboo skewers.
Grilled Cheese & Apples – Thinly slice apples and place in a
cheese sandwich. Grill over medium heat unRl the cheese has
melted.
Snacks with Eggs
Devilish Eggs – Deviled eggs with bell pepper strips faces.
Egg Boats – Hard-‐boiled eggs halved with cheese sails.
Egg Salad Select – Mix chopped egg, a liDle mayo, and dill pickle
relish together. Drop in rounded teaspoon-‐fuls on crackers. Top
with shredded carrots or bell pepper pieces.
Fried Rice – Scramble an egg and toss with cooked rice, peas, and
carrots. SRr fry the mixture in a drizzle of olive oil and a drop or
two of soy sauce.
Egg Eyeballs – Slice hard-‐boiled eggs, place on crackers, and top
with sliced black olives. �5

Blueberry Bagel – Mix together cream cheese and blueberries.
Spread over half a bagel. Top with addiRonal blueberries and/or
shredded coconut.
Mini-‐Muffins – Prepare your favorite muffin recipe but bake it in a
mini-‐muffin pan.
Tuna Melt – Top half an English muffin with tuna, a slice of
tomato, and sliced cheese. Toast and let the cheese melt.
Chicken Crescents – Chop boiled chicken and mix with a liDle
mayo and sweet relish. Serve in a baked crescent.
Morning Glory Muffins – A muffin full of yumminess at The Happy
Housewife.

Coconut Raspberry Muffins are a great on-‐the-‐go snack for busy

and a hint of coconut, this muffin is a crowd pleaser. Freezes well!

Snacks with Cheese
CoLage Fruit – CoDage cheese topped with canned fruit.
Campfire Classic – Place pretzel sRck in the middle of a bowl.
Surround with grapes. Top the pretzels with zig-‐zag sliced cheese.
English Muffin Pizza – Spread pizza sauce over half an English
muffin. Add choice of meat or vegetable. Sprinkle with cheese.
Toast.
Cheesy Quesadilla – Smear beans on a torRlla and sprinkle with
cheese. Microwave for 30 seconds and fold in half. Cut into
triangles. Serve with salsa or guacamole.
Snacks with Nut BuLers
Peanut BuLer Balls – Peanut buDer and cream cheese mixed and
rolled in chopped nuts, coconut, or crushed graham crackers.

sliced strawberries on whole wheat bread.
Peanut BuLer Banana Stacker – Peanut buDer and banana slices
on crackers.
Sweet Pizza – Smear peanut buDer on a rice cake. Top with sliced
fruit and drizzle with chocolate sauce.
Chunky Monkey Smoothie – Blend together vanilla yogurt,
bananas, and peanut buDer with ice and milk.
Nutella Grahams -‐ Dip graham crackers in chocolate hazelnut
spread and sprinkle lightly with wheat germ. Serve with milk for a
liDle calcium and extra dairy for the day.

My children gobble these up with no idea that they are sweetened
with honey instead of icing (powdered) sugar. You can dip them in
chocolate or leave them plain, both ways they taste amazing and
saRsfy an ahernoon sweet tooth craving.

Snacks with Bananas
Frozen Chocolate-‐Covered Bananas – Place half a peeled banana
and place it on a sRck. Dip in melted chocolate and roll in chopped
nuts or coconut. Freeze on waxed paper.
Fluffer-‐nuLer Roll-‐Ups – Spread peanut buDer on a torRlla.
Sprinkle with marshmallows and chunks of banana. Roll up.
Banana Tor6lla Stack – Spread cream cheese on a torRlla. Cut into
triangles. Stack alternaRng with sliced bananas and chopped nuts.
Sushi Rolls – Spread peanut buDer or cream cheese or jelly on
bread, crusts removed and cut into long strips. Place a thick slice
of banana on one end and roll up.
Buggy Bananas – Place two pretzel sRcks in half a banana as
antenna. Top each pretzel with a grape.

slices, and mini chocolate chips into a tower for your kids to enjoy
a fun snack!
Chicka Coconut Banana Booms from Growing Book by Book. A
healthy no sugar cookie treat that is a great snack while reading
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom! Best of all, the kids can help make it!
Banana and oat cookies from SnoEy Noses. Really quick and
healthy cookies. Just 2 ingredients (bananas and oats). No sugar
so great for under 1s.
Snacks with Vegetables
BrucheLa – SRr together chopped tomatoes, dry basil, chopped
garlic, and a drizzle of olive oil. Sprinkle on bread, top with grated
Mozzarella and toast unRl the cheese melts.
Dip S6cks – Slice vegetables in long pieces and serve with ranch,
peanut buDer, and/or honey.
Bugs on a Log – Slice celery and top with cream cheese, coDage
cheese, or peanut buDer. Add raisins.
Neat-‐a Pita – Spread hummus in a pita pocket. Add shredded
carrots.

grape tomato in half and then slice again. Place on half tomato on
cracker with “wings” spread. Use a black olive for the head.
Quick Nachos – Sprinkle shredded cheese over torRlla chips or
crackers. Microwave just unRl the cheese melts. Top with chopped
tomatoes, black beans, and/or avocado.
Kabobs – Serve grape tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, black olives,
and sliced yellow squash on a bamboo skewer with dipping sauce.
Cucumber Sandwiches – Stack sliced cucumbers with cheese,
cream cheese, or peanut buDer in between.
Dip Those Coins Matey! from Learning 2 Walk. Sliced cucumbers
that can be dipped in child's favorite flavor of yogurt.
Snacks with Yogurt
Frozen Yogurt Bits – Use a plasRc bag with a hole cut in the Rp to
pipe yogurt into a mini ice tray or on a baking sheet lined with wax
paper. Freeze and serve.
Frozen Fruit – Dip grapes or strawberry halves in yogurt. Freeze on
waxed paper.
Yogurt Parfaits – Top yogurt with whole grain cereal, chocolate
chips, chopped nuts, and/or fresh fruit.

the fruit cut into small chunks. Mix together and freeze into
popsicles.
Tropical Fruit Salad – Dice and mix kiwi, pineapple, papaya and
melon. Toss with marshmallows.

of green Twizzler or celery and poke it into the hole. (A piece of
Tootsy Roll will work too.) Sprinkle with Autumn Leaves Sprinkles� .
Roasted Pumpkin Seeds -‐ Remove the seeds from your pumpkin
and wash well. Pat dry. Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Then, toss
the pumpkin seeds with 2 teaspoons for olive oil and salt. Place
the seeds in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake for 45
minutes or unRl golden brown, sRrring occasionally.

Lunch Time Ideas
When lunchRme rolls around, I ohen feel stuck. My children
would eat peanut buDer sandwiches every day and think nothing
of it. They love them, but I get bored. I need easy ideas for healthy
lunches that I can put together quickly and without a lot of
thought.
If you have been lacking inspiraRon for kid-‐pleasing lunches that
will also make momma’s tummy happy, check out this list of quick
but healthy lunches.
Quick Ideas for Lunch
Macaroni Smiles -‐ Scoop macaroni and cheese on a plate. Cut a
cooked hamburger paDy in half and place on one side for the
smile. Dot with ketchup if desired. Finish the happy face with
celery slices or black olives for the eyes and a carrot sRck for the
nose.
Pita Pizza -‐ Spread pizza sauce over a pita round. Add any
combinaRon of toppings and finish with cheese. Microwave for 30
seconds on high. Allow to rest for about one minute. Cut into
wedges and serve.

sandwich is a great way hide veggies in a sandwich! Your kids will

Stacker Snack Plate -‐ Pull together any combinaRon of foods from
each of the food groups. Allow the children to create “stackers” on
crackers.
Chicken Noodle Soup -‐ If you have cooked chicken and
homemade chicken stock in your freezer, then you are halfway
there. Bring the stock to a boil and add peas and carrots and
noodles. SRr in the chicken. Cook unRl the pasta is done and
serve.
Funny Faces -‐ Using pita or a torRlla as the base, give children
peanut buDer, pretzels, raisins, marshmallows, and fruit slices to
make their own silly faces.
Spaghe] with Meatballs -‐ Not just for those mid-‐week dinners,
save lehover spaghex for a quick lunch too.
Super Sandwich -‐ A sandwich can be more than peanut buDer and
jelly. Stack up vegetables like sliced cucumber, tomato, and
avocado with your choice of meat and cheese. Toast the bread for
an added crunch.
Tomato & Basil Pasta -‐ from Some Call It Natural. This recipe is

healthy eaRng in a fun and flavorful lunch for your family.
Homemade cheesy falafels in a whole wheat pita pocket will put a
'cheesy' grin on your child's face.
Stuffed Baked Potatoes -‐ Whether your children love chili, bacon,
or broccoli and cheese, pop some scrubbed spuds in the
microwave and then stuff them with your favorite toppings.
Chef Salad -‐ On a bed of greens, add diced ham, a hard-‐boiled
egg, cheddar cheese, tomato, and cucumber.
Calzones! -‐ from Jansen Family Adventures. Prepare this awesome
calzone for the whole family to share or wrap up individual
servings for lunch boxes!
Caprese Bagel -‐ Over a thick layer of cream cheese on your
favorite type of bagel, layer slices of tomato and some shredded
mozzarella. Broil unRl the cheese is melted and then sprinkle with
chopped basil. (I have a ton of ideas for topping bagels.)

them in the oven to heat through. Or just heat the meat and serve
your tacos like a salad.
Meatball Subs -‐ In a hotdog bun, place cooked meatballs, pasta
sauce, and a sprinkle of mozzarella.
BBQ Chicken on a Bun -‐ Shred lehover chicken and toss with
barbecue sauce. Serve in a baked potato with cheddar cheese or
on a whole grain bun.
Ice Hockey Bento Lunch -‐ from Crystal's Tiny Treasures. Make
lunch fun with a hockey-‐themed bento box you can put together
in minutes from supper's lehover rice and a couple of other easy
ingredients.
Savory Muffins -‐ Instead of a fruit-‐filled muffin, make them more
savory with broccoli and cheese or pepperoni and tomato.
Wrap It Ups -‐ Whether making pretend sushi with peanut buDer
and jelly or just trading in bread for a torRlla, serve a wrap for
lunch.
Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup -‐ A classic favorite, grilled cheese
with warm tomato soup can be cooked in just a few minutes.
Quick Quesadillas -‐ Sprinkle cheese and chopped vegetables on a
corn or flour torRlla. Microwave for 30 seconds and allow to rest
for about a minute. Fold and cut into triangles.

turkey breast and guacamole instead. Send the Englishman to
Hawaii by using ham and pineapple.

food for lunch! Cut your favorite veggies or try some new ones.
