Biblical Authority

Definition • The power to influence or command thought, opinion, or behavior

• The right to exercise power, to rule or govern

• The power of one whose will and commands must be obeyed by others.

Definition • Authority is the right and capacity of one

individual to perform what he wills and who, by virtue of his position or office, can command obedience. It has also an application to words spoken or written whose accuracy has been established and whose information can consequently be trusted.
