Bobby had ended the day in a bad strategic position after one of the games in Iceland was adjourned for the night. He called all the grandmasters into his room and asked each one to sit down and make a move. One by one he dismissed them with a “huh” and a slight flick of his hand. When they told him there was no one else, he replied, “Yes there is, there’s Harry.” Everyone laughed but Fischer. Hemade me sit down opposite him. When I madea move everyone laughed again except Bobby. Not knowing how to play, I had made a move he had never seen before.
